Papa discovered one new place to have nice to have Gulai Kawah and Ikan Patin Tempoyak.
This place seems to be very popular. By 1pm , nearly all dishes would be finished.
Papa "Tapau-ed" the Ikan Patin masak tempoyak before. For Mamarazzi it tasted good. No "mud" smell on the fish.
Hmmm,,,,no wonder la coz when Mamarazzi goes there, she noticed this sign . The tempoyak is from Bentong. Most people know that Bentong is famous for its durian orchard . Yums....The fish from Temerloh.
From the notice, price was from RM5-RM6. Quite cheap coz the ones we had in Temerloh was RM10. Not sure how much was the price of the Patin fish that papa "Tapau-ed" coz it was together with a few other dishes, but that pieve of Patin was quite big.
Ahem ahem....looks like they have pickled Petai too. Super!
For me...am less adventurous.
I choose fried Chicken and salted egg.
Sorry ya...I don't have the exact address but from google map , the restaurant is located along Jalan Teratai Utama at junction where Jalan Asteroid U5/30 meets Jalan Teratai Utama, Subang Suria...right behind Apartment Flora.
Hi There, We are home from George's fabulous birthday trip. I will blog about it tomorrow. It was truly a trip we will be talking about for a VERY long time!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou and your family certainly find alot of great restaurants to visit --and then blog about. I'm sure the restaurants appreciate your publicity for them also.
Hugs,
Betsy
:)
DeleteI have never eaten this ikan patin tempoyak dish before. Not sure whether can get it somewhere near my place or not. The dish in the photo looks good and I guess taste very good too. Never tried pickled petai before. Wonder how it taste.
ReplyDeletehmmm....heard there is one good one near the balai polis in Kuchai entreprenuer's park
DeleteSlurpsssss....masak tempoyak!!! I super-duper like!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha first time ya.
DeleteAnd it also come with rice, right?
ReplyDeleteyes with rice too
DeleteMentioned Bentong only I thought of ginger liao.. Neh, those special ginger to be used for confinement one.. I was thinking, why can't we use normal ginger which we can get from hypermarkets leh? Why must use Bentong ginger.. It cost more expensive.. I'm a cheapo ma.. But last last, I still used Bentong ginger coz kiasu ma.. Don't wana lose.. Everyone's using Bentong ginger for confinement, I also want lor.. Bentong ginger is more "lat" and more strong, more "uummph"... In my bath, and also in my food..
ReplyDeleteCall me jakun, but until today, I never tasted tempoyak before.. I kinda know what is tempoyak from STP's posts.. Made from dried durian, something like that rite.. And his wife also made into curry, something like that, hai mai? How does it taste? Got durian smell mou?
I'm same like J... Less adventourous.. I always choose very safe dishes when I tapau rice.. I will choose stuffs like steamed egg with minced meat, fried chicken or any chicken dish or curry chicken, one taufu like those with eggy gravy (Japanese taufu) and maybe some greens or yong taufu.. Kekekeke.. Boring hor?
not ginger leh....durian leh....
Deletego malay stall and try out. nice
Nowadays different culture food, eh... good to be food adventurous!

Deletepetai, no, thank you...
ReplyDeletetarak offer you pun....LOL
Deletehmmm, now i am pretty sure Mamarazzi's favorite fish is patin, even Paparazzi saw that and wanted to tapao for her!! but what is patin?? hahaha.. give Uncle SK fish, then it IS fish lah, he won't bother to know what kind of fish that is.. :p
ReplyDeletehmmmm, probably Uncle SK will also go for the fried chicken and salted eggs lah.. he doesn't really like curry fish lah, he prefers the steam ones or the "yao jaam" ones more.. when go for curry fish head, Uncle SK also don't eat the fish, but would be very happy with the veggie and the taufu pok, together with the curry gravy, already so nice with the rice leh~~ :)
and don't forget leh, this is tempoyak patin, hahaha!! durians sure have to go far far away from Uncle SK lah.. hmmm, Small Kucing likes durians or not??

DeletePrickled petai ? How does that taste like ? Sour ? Smelly ? I never like petai because of the smell.
ReplyDeleteI like green bean tempoyak. My ex-Malay neighbour used to cook for us when she has durians. The green bean soup so tasty with the gula melaka and durian flesh.
sour bit...made before....saour and salty. Nice.
DeleteI have not heard nor taste of these fish dishes. They do look delicious to me. I know durians from Bentong taste great. :P
ReplyDeleteHmmm unsure if you will like it LOL
DeleteWhen you mentioned Mud-Smell, it reminds me that almost all the fishes in China have strong pungent of mud and bluek. I always could not finish their fish and stopped ordering again.
ReplyDeletedont like to have mud smell in fish la....awful
DeleteGosh! This is the first time I heard of Gulai Kawah and pickled petai!!!!! I love curry petai but I am not sure if the pickled ones are just as crispy and great?
