An Adventure to Bookaville and Gifts

Hi ya! We just came back from Bookerville, The Magical Town of Books. Mamarazzi was excited when the advertisement that there are up to 5.0 Millions books offered at an attractive discount.

The Book Fair had started since 19th March but she waited today to go as tomorrow I don't have class. Can relax a bit

Pretty exciting for me as she told me that she heard that there will be story telling time and loads of activities for family.

I "set" Mamarazzi hair while waiting for Papa. Said want Mamarazzi to look good mah.

Finally arrived around 4pm. Hmmm....not much crowd. Good. Can browse without being "sardined".

The first hall we went to was full of Malay books. Not very keen so we walked out to the English books hall.

On the way, spotted Pororo and friends.... Snap a photo with them

Hey! Dibo and Bunny was there too!

Hey ...your carriage is waiting.......still reading?

Outside the halls there were plenty of vendors promoting their products that is related to education. There were some activities at the vendors booth but bad Mamarazzi didn't stop. Said don't play la. Later sit down play then have to listen to their sales talk. If don't buy then paiseh pulak. So end up I didn't play any lo...only play one or two games at Astro booth.

Finally we came to the English hall. Mamarazzi recalled that in MPH  facebook, they advertised that they have  "Five Stars Billionaire" by Tash Aw

She went hunting for it. Found one but different cover . That was at RM46+.  After some hunting...found one more at RM15.

Mamarazzi was surprised at the small hall size. Nearly half the hall was occupied by vendors selling stationary while middle section were devoted to books.

We walked a few rounds hunting for discount. Frankly, she had not expected high discount here coz this is a book fair and not warehouse sale but she had expected more "latest" titles that what was on the shelves.

From what she observed, there were not much selection there . In some shelves, a whole row was devoted to book of the same title. Where are the 5.0Millions books which is said to be on discount? They have not put out all the books yet ka?

Okay okay...must give constructive criticism.....suggest the organiser to :-

1) separate the normal priced books properly from the books that is on discount .

2) to use clearer signboard instead of "Children" , "fiction" and "Young Adult". Maybe put romance, horror, sci-fic separately.

3) If possible , please arrange books according to author name .

4) Would be helpful if staffs can familiarised themselves on location of books.

5) Put out more titles instead of letting single titles occupied whole row on the shelves like what is in Bahasa Malaysia section.

6) allocate separate area for Author meet/speaker speech as it's not so nice to have it at the same area. It felt like disrespectful to the author who is giving a speech while bargain hunter walking around hunting for books.

feel free to add on the list of suggestion.

Since there were very limited selection, Mamarazzi dropped me at one of the booth coz I wanna play the games there. Meantime, she went to pay for her purchase.

Managed to buy only two books at an okay type of discount. Yeah yeah....Mamarazzi is very stingy.

RM15 each.

But when she came home , she checked through MPH Clicks Facebook again...Hmmm... why in there "Five Star Billionaire"  listed as RM13.50 but she bought was RM15? Could it be the RM13.50 have limited copies only? Weird.

Oh well....life is full of unexpected things......

Detoured to dinner in Bandar Puteri Puchong. Though of eating the "hot Soup". Arrived there..the shop gone. Don't know whether moved or closed down.

In the end had Thai Food.

On the way back home, detoured to USJ coz Papa wanna have tapau Nasi Lemak. but since pass by Kee's Puff shop lo.....might as well buy some Puff la. Sweet Puffs to sweetness what is left of the day.

Speaking of sweet.... It's sweet that Uncle Arthur Poslaju  some tidbits to Mamarazzi. Gosh...paiseh la.. Thank you very much Uncle Arthur.

Oh well...at least Mamarazzi managed to get two books...better that two of her friends who came back empty handed.

She can read her book while enjoying the music that SK sent her. Thank you very much SK. Sorry to trouble you to select the songs for Mamarazzi ya. She really had not expected to win your giveaway. Congratulation on the 8th Anniversary of your blog and may there be many more to come.

  1. Haizz...looks like they said sale but the fact is normal price. Might as well go BbW or Bookalicious. Much cheaper. Auntie thought wanna go again but looks like the only tempting thing is not books but the book talks, meet and greet and those storytelling. :(

  9. Mamarazzi saw the books fair advertisement, raised her tail and sniffing for good books all the way to Putrajaya!! somemore "set" her hair nicely by the world's famous hairstylist Small J Kucing on the way to the treasure hunt.. this one is book fair so a little more posh, need to set the hair nicer.. unlike the other warehouse sales, must go there with messy hair because in the end when Mamarazzi saw cheap and good books, she would be too happy and mess up her hair in disbelief too!!

  10. haha, so spacious and looks just like normal bookstore with books all arranged in shelves.. probably the books were not cheap and there were also little discounts given, so many treasure hunter just look and never bother to touch, hence the books are still neatly intact on the shelves.. and looks like there were more booths and play-sites for the children than mountains of books where Mamarazzi could borong..

  20. Someday Kaldip needs to bring Mamarazzi to Taipei where they have this chain of Eslite bookstores that looks lovely and great inside - mostly in Chinese but their concept is the best I have seen. The big one in Taipei opens 24/7 and you still see many worms inside at 3.00am! Just goolgle http://www.eslite.com/ and click images!!!
