Garden After General Election 14

The other day, a reader asked whether am I the one who wrote the blog. Mamarazzi replied that she helped me write as a form of diary for me.

Anyway, last blog post I did sort of write  it . Well, at least I helped editing some of the photos. Yea... now it's me who teach Mamarazzi how to edit photo instead .

Am wondering how is General Election done in other countries? For as long as I know , each time GE approach there will be flags and posters "wars".

Yup... Flags and poster symbolising each competing party will be everywhere along the road side. After the GE, each party have to clean up the place. Take out all the flags and posters or else they will be fined a sum of money.

Anyway. it's also a happy time for gardeners. Yup, most gardeners would be eyeing the bamboo poles, wood, canvas and pipe for the D.I.Y  projects in their garden. They cannot take those during the campaign period as it would be an offence that will land them some jail time. But after election, most will "help" the party to clean up.

Mamarazzi's lucky day last weekend. Managed to get some discarded poles and flags. Yea...flags as remembrance of the momentous moment.

A funny incident happened.  As she was collecting the poles,  a man came down from his motorbike. Mamarazzi thought the man is one of the party member . And that man thought she was one of the party member. Apparently, both of them aiming for the same thing. The man wanted some flags as a memento.

Managed to get around 10 poles and some flags.

Yesterday evening, Mamarazzi rescued some Dumb Cane from the roadside dumpsters. Poor plants. They might have been dumped due to their reputation of being poisonous to pets and child.

Oh come on! Poisonous? Yes, it's poisonous if you consume it. Even cats and dogs would avoid this plant as the sap have stinky smell. It's one of the plant protective systems again while animals. As for toddler, ones just have to be careful where the plant is placed. For me, I dislike eating vegetable. I definitely won't go and eat that.

Anyway, these are the rescue beauties. Hopefully under her friend's care, they will prosper.

Our garden is blooming. The Kesidang (bread flower/vallaris glabra) is flowering at every branch. Garden is full of lovely pandan/screwpine scent.

The desert roses also decided to join in the competition. Never have I seen so many pots blooming at the same time.

How long does it takes Banana from fruiting to ripe? Ours seems to take forever. It have been there since the end of January.

Yesterday Mamarazzi noticed that the top ones are rounded and one even splits its side.

But the bottom most are still pretty skinny. .

And these are green skinned Banana. It won't turn yellow.  She just put a lot of fertiliser yesterday. Hopefully by next week we can enjoy the banana.

Well, the weekend is here. Happy weekend to everyone and have fun!.

Big Bad Wolf Box Sale @ Starling Mall (10th-20th May 2018)

My first word on that morning was "Who Won?". Yes, the night before when I dozed off the result was still not out yet. Heard the result of the  election only came out around 4a.m. or 5a.m.

Mamarazzi said "Go back to sleep . It is a public holiday today."

That was how we ended up at BBW Box Sale. Many people balik kampung (gone back hometown) for election and many are still glued to the television for the swearing in ceremony.... so  should be not many people at the sale, right?

OMG! So early already got long queue  ah? BBW sure have many fans.

 Open sesame!

One thing that you need to know about box sales is that the books are remainders from previous sale.

Some of it may not be at tip-top condition. It may be dusty and have some wear and tear but if you have the patience you will find some lovely books.

Books were flying off the tables as eager shoppers spots books that they wanted.

This year choice were not as good as last year. But it is better that the years before. There are plenty of books to choose from but you need time to go through it.

For me its easy. I immediately zoom into the children books section where I bumped into one of my girlfriend classmate. Got myself a trolley full of books. Then Mamarazzi proceed to the counter to purchase a box.

Yes after all it's a box sale, right? We need to buy an empty box/boxes and fill it with books. Yup its not a per book sale . It more like a book buffet where we can fill the box with as many books as we want (provided the box can close properly) and bring it home.

This is our boxful of books

Full to the max. Wanna see my loot?

Jeng! Jeng! Jeng!

and more

and more

We did a good job. We managed to squeeze in 70 books in to the RM99.90 box. That mean is less than RM1.50 per book

So guys head on to BBW Box Sale @ Starling Mall for some good bargains. Its on from now to 20th May. Open from 10 am - 10pm daily.

My First Experience of General Election (GE14)/ Starvillage Steak House

Yesterday many Malaysian were showing their finger in social media. Did you wonder why? It is because yesterday was GE day for our country.

For the past weeks,  the adults have been talking nothing but GE. What is GE ah? Why are there flags everywhere? Every corner and nooks also have. Teacher said GE means General Election.

Aiyo..... even our school examination also got postpone due to GE. Some more going to have replacement class. I have been asking questions about GE. Still don't understand fully but.. oh well...

Yesterday was the day for casting vote. Initially we planned to go in the afternoon where there will be less crowd . But in the end we went in the morning coz Mamarazzi read rumours online about phantom voters. Huh? ghost also can vote ah?

Anyway, not sure whether true or not but better go early lah. Hence we went out very early in the morning. Wah lau eh... so early already so many people ah. Traffic jam like crazy.

Mamarazzi's polling centre was at one of the school ,

Saw Mamarazzi went to one of the tent and got a number. She showed the lady her Identity Card  and that lady checked in a book. Found Mamarazzi's name and gave her a piece of paper. The number 5 indicate which stream/ classroom she had to go to.

The older you are the smaller the number. Usually the classroom would be at the ground floor or nearest to the gate so that the old folks don't have to walk far. Wheel chair is provided but still... how la to go upstairs in a wheel chair without lift.

Anyway, there were 7 or 9 streams there. Ours where at the second floor. I had a shocked when I saw the place jam packed with people. Free sauna, man!.

Mamarazzi told me to go sit at the staircase where it is not so hot. Luckily I brought a book with me to read.

It took like forever and ever. .. the line snaked from upstairs to downstairs then U-turned into a classroom before it turn out again.

After nearly 2 hours, finally the "snake" u-turn out from the waiting room. Kids are not allowed into the voting room. So I sat outside and looked.

Saw Mamarazzi gave her Identity Card and the piece of paper to the 1st clerk . She flip a book and found Mamarazzi's name. Then she read out the serial number, Mamarazzi's name and her ID number. before she crossed out Mamarazzi's name from the book.  There were two more ladies in  the room with books too and they did the same.

Then saw another clerk checked Mamarazzi's hands. Then took her forefinger and dipped it in a jar of ink. The 3rd clerk gave Mamarazzi a ballot paper. Then she went to another table  to mark the ballot paper before stuffing it into a box.

Easy peasy . Not even 5 minutes all done. I asked her who did she vote for but she said "Undi itu rahsia"(vote is secret).

NAH! Finger. Hmmmm... light purple... but but but...later it started to change color. Become darker and darker.

But aiyo...don't care la... Am famish leh. Lunch time liao lo

Found a  little nice western restaurant to eat in  based on friend's recommendation. Yay! air-cond!!!!!

 Free flow of mushroom soup.

I had Grilled chicken chop with brown sauce.

It was tasty. Love it.  Don't know whether portion is too big or that we were too tired... we couldn't finish the plate. End up ask them to "tapau"(pack) both our plate.

Ice cream . Mamarazzi asked me to help her to finish it off.

After lunch, we went home. But before that, we detoured to hypermarket near our home to get some rice. Yea...she was worried about the result of the GE.

While at the hypermarket, I saw some mutton being sold. Asked Mamarazzi to buy some. She got me two pieces.

So last night I cooked it for my dinner. Very simple. Just butter  and some LP sauce. Done. It was so yummy

As the hours passed, the tension begins. By 5pm all the polling station have been closed and the color of Mamarazzi's inked finger had turned blackish blue. Wash with soap also cannot.

Then a friend told her to wash with Clorox. Yea, i know it's not good but the color managed to come off...at least most of it.

For me... more and more tension as one of the party had earlier mentioned if they win, Thursday and Friday will be declared Public Holiday while the other party said if they win, they will declared next Monday and Tuesdays as Public Holiday.

Aiyo...why la don't offer the same dates. Easier for us students ma.

8pm... unofficial result start coming in slowly. then it sort of stopped around 10pm something. Aiyo...come on la...what could be the problem? It seems that some Head of the polling station were refusing to sign a form called Borang 14.  According to people, Borang 14 is a form that the Head of the polling station have to sign off as it officiates the final vote count. Without it, the votes tallied would not be considered as "Official".

Refreshed and refreshed the screen so many time still stuck at 54 vs 51..... aiyoyo... Then Mamarazzi declared... wokay... Public Holiday or not next day she would give me a "holiday" if I don't go to sleep immediately.

Guess, what was my first word when I woke up at 6am the next morning?

7th Bukit Jelutong Plant Exchange/Adoption Programme & 2nd Flea Market 2018

The 7th Bukit Jelutong Plant Exchange/Adoption Programme and the 2nd Flea Market was held on the 5th of May 2018 at Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam.  Mamarazzi and me participated on that.

Mamarazzi started to propagate plants for the BJPE two months early.  Guess she propagated a tad too many plants. Roughly counted that there were 10 boxes of plants to be given away. Alamak! need a lorry dei!

But luckily Aunty Karen was able to foster them  Dropped a load to her two days early.

On the day itself, we were there real early. We arrived before dawn and unloaded boxes and boxes of plants.

Also set up my table for the Flea Market. Yup, Mamarazzi booked a table for me to sell stuffs at the flea market.

Sold my first aloe at 6.30am in the morning.

While I was manning my stall with 3 "helpers" , Mamarazzi was at the Registration counter. Around 7am, visitors started coming in and dropping off plants for the BJPE. They were dropping boxes and boxes of plants for adoption. There were some who purposely came to drop plants before rushing to other appointments.

By 9am, the place was  buzzing. Most of the plants were on display. Visitors eyeing the plants that they wanted to adopt.

There were loads and loads and loads of plants to be adopted.

While waiting for the plant exchange to begin, visitors browse around the flea market. There were loads of things to see and buy at an affordable price.

And I got real busy then. This round my marketing plan was to run around.

Yup! You heard correctly. Instead of waiting for customers to come, I brought my wares around the block to sell. I sold Aloe Vera. I sold vegetables. I sold succulents and cactus. I sold Lime leaves. I sold books.

Hey! the next  day I was surprised when my schoolmate told me that I sold books to him . Busy till I didn't know who is who but I saw one of the teacher also open a stall at the flea market.

I even helped Uncle Eric sell his Lemongrass. He is a nice chap. Always gave me his homegrown banana and Papaya to eat.

Uncle Eric's stall is next to ours. He is selling fruit plants at a very low price.

Knowledgeable volunteer were manning the plant area and ready to recommend plants to visitor.

Wow... when they started to call the numbers... the euphoria were there. Plenty of excited face coming forward eager to adopt plants home.

Mamarazzi was thrilled to have adopted this pretty baby.

The exchange started 10am sharp and by 11am , there were only 1 small table of plants left. By noon , all were gone. This is one of the most fun and successful BJPE ever! And we are looking forward to the next BJPE which tentative will be in October 2018.
