Bored with the baked sotong and what not..Papa suggested Mamarazzi cook Kung Po Sotong la.
Mamarazzi pok pek pok pek say diificult la...so many things to prepare. Googled...
Need sotong...spring onion, ginger, onion, garlic, dried chilies, glutinous rice wine, oyster sauce, light soy sauce and dark soy sauce
okay.....sotong - checked!
Spring onion- Checked!
Not much...better than nothing la.
Ginger- checked!
Onion...garlic..checked....
Dried chilies...oppss...ran out....err....Sibu chili can ah? used one only.
All those sauce got la....
Hmm...how come recipe never say nothing about kacang geh.....In restaurant they put gajus wor...Mamarazzi doesn't have gajus so just fried some peanuts la.
According to recipe boil the sotong with some spring onions and ginger
Yikes...sotong shrunk so much leh after drain.
Next step really die kau kau leh...no time to snap photo at all...
according to the recipe....put a bit of oil...throw in the ginger pieces and the dried chilies to fry...wah lau eh....her first time....
in the beginning just stir fry as usual...then out of the blue she start choking...mak oi.....sooooo much smoke and the smoke very "spicy:" type leh...adui...one piece of dried chilies really so spicy leh.......fast fast put the fire to small....opened all the windows wide and even opened the kitchen back door too...Lucky no neighbour was watch else will think Mamarazzi gone mad.
When she can breath baru throw in the onions and the sotong and the whatever sauce. ....stir a bit and add the peanuts...serve with some spring onions on top.
One taste aje, Papa asked...how much chili you put ah..... mak datuk soooooo spicy....
For me...I eat the steam fish lor. Teo Chew Steam Fish. yumm...
As for the sotong...well...Mamarazzi die die have to eat la
I thought Mamarazzi cannot eat spicy food but Paparazzi said that this sotong dish is spicy so how did Mamarazzi finish eating it? Wah, Small Kucing gets to enjoy eating steamed fish, so delicious!
ReplyDeletecannot eat also have to sei deng lor....else wasted leh

DeleteOoooo....look so good, the sotong & the fish. Next tiome, I go KL...I stay at your house - no need to go out - we just eat at home. So much nicer. And oooooo....your spring onion, so fat like me. Terbalik lah - mine so kurus like you. Muahahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteerrr...still need to go out leh...have to go pasar buy sotong LOL
DeleteHahaha, funny post, I like to read.. With your mak oii, mak datuk.. Eh, I laughing now la.. Just reached office by the way.. Kungpo sotong? I like also.. But normally I eat kungpo kai-ting la, when kiu soong in restaurant.. I also don't like it too spicy, but depends on individual la.. Some like it pedas, then baru "cheh farn" (hoi wai to eat with rice)...
ReplyDeleteAla, no need to fry peanuts so mafan la.. Go Petronas or any petrol kiosk, mini mart there, buy a packet of Tong Garden cashew lor.. kekekeke.. But mamarazzi sendiri opt to fry peanuts, ok jugak la, homemade all the way.. Best jugak..
I love you Teochew steamed fish.. The gravy sure whet my appetite, with the tomatoes and ginger, I think I will finish drinking the "soup" first, before I eat the fish..
This Mamarazzi is memang real Nenek Kebayan with all her Mak Oii and Mak Datuks! Wakakaka
Deleteaiya petronas all those far away ma...last min at home mana ada peanuts?
Deletememenag cannot be chef leh

ReplyDeleteOohh so funny this post. I totally understand what you mean by the spicy smoke that makes you choke! But i LOVE spicy dishes. yum yum!
ReplyDeletehahaha...thank goodness someone understands
DeleteHome plant onion??? My uncle (mom's brother) has something like that, he always cut it first once it has grow!!!
ReplyDeleteyea cannot keep long. once mature then cut and use. can cut a few times then it give up growing ,
Deletewah!!! kung pao squid!! eih, not easy dish to cook leh, at least for me lah.. last time when studying in uni abroad, everything need to do it by ourselves including cooking.. so have also thought of cooking kung pao chicken, have all ingredients like dried chili and onions etc, but then came out didn't taste like it at all leh..
ReplyDeletegot smoke comes out like mamarazzi punya or not
Deletebut then i think those i tried to cooked is not so complicated lah.. look at mamarazzi, she has got all kinds of spices and seasoning woh.. but i wonder how come one dried chili only and even paparazzi also said it was super duper hot ah??
ReplyDeletei think i know lah, because you fried it with the garlic ginger together before putting in the squid!! aiyoh, like that sure very hot lah, because this will "bikk" the spiciness out leh.. if you put in the dried chili to stir fry a bit only after the squid, i think you put a few also not that hot lor.. that's what i did last time lah, no wonder the chili no taste, haha~~
Hihihi this comment is so cute la. Ah Boy talking to Mamarazzi like two aunties talking about recipe. Jangan marah Ah Boy :)
DeleteThe recipe say goreng the cili kering with a bit of oil ma...mana tau so much smoke lOL
Deletehaha, surely small kucing is never going to touch the kung pao chicken lah.. wah, that day is seafood meal ah?? got squid and also got fish.. what fish is that?? red snapper?? haha, just try to guess lah you know i always blur blur with fish one mah.. but i love teochew style steam fish lah, very appetizing one especially with the salted veggie or some even put in sour plum.. so, i wanna ask, did mamarazzi finish up the whole plate of kung pao squid?? lips got turned into two thick sausages or not?? hehe~~ :p
ReplyDeletered snapper. Got tired of talipia jor.
DeleteI dare not cook sotong; worried of being overcooked and rubbery. Yet its a beautiful dish and yes all the way for the fish dish.
