Yummy Yammy Steam Rice with Oink Oink

Sorry ya for the late post...Mamarazzi been busy whole morning after sending me to school.

You say "sotplug" or not...she is making this in March...Maybe frustrated by the disappointing Char Keoy Teow or what la...*that's another story*

Can you guess what she is making? No prize in guessing the correct answer. It's still in the pot boiling since 11am. I guess should be ready anything soon. She is gonna check it after this post.

While she was waiting for the stuff to cook, she remembered Papa said that long time have not had Pork Belly Yam Rice.

Hmm ...don't know what to cook for lunch....cook Yam Rice la...No more Pork Belly in the freezer...got some "mui Yoke" (lean pork meat??) ..well de-frost that.

Went hunting for Yam...adoi...so pathetic looking Yam leh ...RM1.97. Well...beggar can't be chooser.

Came home , quickly soak three dried mushrooms in the hot water. Sliced some shallots. Then cut the Yam

Alamak...forgotten that cutting Yam is tricky business. Adoi...the hand so itchy from the "getah"(gum?) of the Yam.

Washed with Dettol....felt much better.

Here are the ingredients. Diced Yam, dried shrimps, sliced meat, sliced mushrooms and sliced shallot.

Fried  the shallots till golden brown...though Mamarazzi can never perfect this trick. How the heck to make the shallot golden brown and crunchy ah? Anyone have tips to do this? Please advice.

The fried the Hay bee(dried shrimps). Then the mushroom, Lean meat and the Yam. Finally throw everything into the wok and stir fry them .

Alamak...forgot to mention...washed 2 1/2 cups of rice...then stir fried it together with the ingredients. Add some salt, soya sauce, dark soya sauce, a pinch of sugar and OYSTER sauce. Papa everything also have to add oyster sauce one...if don't add sure say not nice.

Took everything out from the Wok and put into a container. Add a bit of water and steam it. Supposed to cook using rice cooker but the rice cooker "mogok"(on strike). .. refused to cook properly in the rice put in is warm.

Come back from school, I have this Yammy Rice to eat.

Me kiasu mode...saw Papa going for second round, I also 'fast fast' scoop more rice into my bowl. I ate all the rice and left all the ingredient.

As Mamarazzi typing this...I am snoring in the room....tummy full full nice to sleep leh.....

Hmmmm...now it;s time for Mamarazzi to check on her morning project..hopefully non burst....

  10. So good but can't add pork, will try with chicken. The itch can also be removed by rubbing a lime over. I love yam no matter how its cooked and among the dim sum dishes, I make sure I order the crispy skin with yam stuffed inside.

  16. Sure looks yummy! You know what I normally do when cutting yam? I'd hold the sappy part with a plastic bag over my hand. That way I don't get sap on my hand. You may want to try that the next time.

  17. One more thing my mom said that has stuck with me all these years. Yam is a sensitive vegetable and needs to be treated with respect so when cutting it, best to refrain from saying bad things about it as in 'kong sum, kong sei' so that you won't be affected by the itch. Just sharing.
