We stop by Mei Six Hin Restaurant for dinner after coming back from Ah Mah's house.
You can say that she is earning an honest living as she is selling something and not begging. But another way of thinking is that if buying the pens from her, it might encourage more people doing the same along the road.
Papa said in Indonesia there are many vendors like this. Going from car to car selling stuffs. There are some dishonest ones who when we give big note, they would pretend to search for changes and delay till the traffic light changes to green and the car owner is forced to "move" without getting his/her change. If it is not mistaken, this type of business is illegal in Indonesia.
Playing with my "Baby computer" while waiting for our food to be served.
Sharkfin Fried egg.
According to Papa, put the eggs in salad leaves and roll it up and eat.
Crunchy but Mamarazzi said the eggs were a bit too oily for her.
Taufu with Salted Vegetable. Mmmm...Mamarazzi loved this very much. Super yummy to her.
Mamarazzi's conclusion the food here suit her taste. Not bad. will wanna come again to try out their other dishes,

So now we have street vendors selling from car to car? I have yet to see one except for beggars only. Yes in Jakarta, you can make a living on the streets selling stuffs or just directing traffic at busy junctions! Drivers will tip you some rupiahs if you hold the traffic to allow them to come out first. Just flag your hands out of car window with a rupiah note and the street will be yours. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that kind of sellers yet. The ones who sell stuff at makan place, that one normal lah...
DeleteTM, money talks eh?
Last time used to see men selling 4D results.
DeleteNow still got kah?
No need already lah kan? They are redundant already since can have 4D results from phone. ;p
Ya Jakarta have a lot of this "unofficial: traffic police, TM
DeleteLina the 4D ones are usual la. But now got new kind that sell pens, toys and small items
Here again? We went there for poon choi, right?

Deletecome come lets eat
yeah, i think selling things inside the road traffic is indeed very dangerous, i will never want to buy from them..
ReplyDeleteSK
Deleteya lo
oh yeah, thanks for sharing that some are really unethical.. have never thought of that trick that they are trying to hold up the change..
ReplyDeleteSK
DeleteSome are like that lo. sigh...and kinda bad la to encourage them. Not that wanna deprive them from a way of making a living but rather for everyone safety.
wah, sharkfin fried egg?? are those real sharkfin or just the plastic ones?? hahahaha, nice idea to wrapped in the lettuce, feels less oily i guess??
ReplyDeleteSK
DeleteDuno oh...makan already. tarak tau real or fake. But should be real la. Shop wont want their name to drag to mud la
but mamarazzi thinks that's still very oily?? hmmm, then i can imagine how worse it can be if eaten alone..
ReplyDeleteSK
DeleteThink maybe when fry egg, the egg absorb the oil hence feel oily la
toufu with salted vege?? oh, that sounds interesting.. i've only came across this combination in soup, now a dish like this seems to be nice..
ReplyDeleteSK
DeleteNext time try and order this. The gravy great with the rice
i adore and sympathize more to those people who sell morethan those who beg
ReplyDeleteI'll help those who sell and probably will donate but I never give money to beggars, myself.
DeleteMEcoy

Wondering what is our government doing? Why they didn't stop the illegal street vendors from selling things in the middle of the road? #facepalm.
ReplyDeleteSharkfin fried egg? I had never try eat like that except for drinking sharfin soup =D
Diana
Deletebut at least one good thig is that they dont go and rob people la though they way they selling like this is angerous to themselves and to others. Can cause accident
There's a place in S'pore that does Shark's Fin Fried Eggs & it's very popular especially with Japanese tourists. Do try it when u've the chance.
