Bedtime Stories And Prayers By Enid Blyton- The Woman At The Dinner Party

Eee this is a very sad story. Have to prepare tissue paper.

There was once a very rich man, Simon, who invited Jesus for dinner at his house. But he was a proud man. He thought Jesus is just a simple preacher and didn't want to make a big fuss on Jesus.

thus when Jesus came to his house, Simon didn't bother to send a servant out to greet him with a jug of water to wash his feet. Sending servant to greet a guest with a jug of water to wash their feet was the custom of the country.

Jesus saw this but he kept quiet. He took his place in the dinner table and talk as usual.

A woman saw the snub. Her name was Mary of Magdalene. She was consider a bad woman in that country as she did many bad things. She thinks herself not worthy to see Jesus's face

Mary was sad when she saw Simon treatment towards Jesus. She thus went to a shop in town and bought ajar of their most expensive sweet smelling ointment

She slipped into the house and kissed Jesus feet. She can;t help herself and wept. She used her hair to wipe his feet and she pour not a little bit but the whole jar of sweet smelling ointment on Jesus feet.

Simon was shocked to see the bad woman in his house and that Jesus had allowed Mary to touch his feet.

Jesus saw what Simon was thinking. Hence he spoke and I quoted from Enid Blyton book

"Do you see this woman, Simon? I came into your house, and you give me no water for my feet; but she has washed my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair. You give me no kiss; but this woman has not stopped kissing my feet since she came in. You did not anoint my head with oil, but this woman has poured oil on my feet."

oh...that was very moving..*sobs*sobs*

And then Jesus spoke kindly to Mary and told her her sins have been forgiven. Since then, Mary followed Jesus around and help him as much as she can.
