Hmmm...I wondered why nearly every of Mamarazzi's project which involved with Ikan Patin fish are destined to be doomed...Only successful was steamed Patin Fish.
It was near Father's Day. Hence, Mamarazzi thought wanna try making Ikan Patin Tempoyak for Papa la since he likes it very much when eating in temerloh. But since we don't have Tempoyak, Papa suggested that she make Asam Pedas instead.
Okay here are the ingredients...ginger, live tumeric, lemongrass, onions and garlic.
Recipe calls for 15 dried cili
Blend the ingredients together
Okay.....ingredients Daun Kesum(Vietnamese mint). bunga kantan(Ginger flower)
and of course a Patin Fish
Some Asam Jawa water
Some vege....
fry the blended ingredient with bit of oil...put in the asam jawa water...throw in the bunga kantan, daun kesum and the vegetables. Last but not least, the fish. Add some salt and some sugar.
The end product....Result...Papa said toooooooo spicy. Another of Mamarazzi's friend said tooooooooo sweet....Mamarazzi said...too bad.
Lucky me...am clever. I bought Papa this for Father's Day. No need headache and penat-penat cook. "Cleber" or not?
Everyone's taste is different. Food that is too spicy for some is very nice for some so if Mamarazzi cooks, of course it is suited to her own taste. So Mamarazzi says assam pedas ikan patin nice or not?
ReplyDeleteHaha, Small Kucing looks so innocent in the above photo.
:)
DeleteAhhhh...I cooked prawns with tempoyak like that once, nice. Itu papa tau complain aje! Tsk! Tsk!
ReplyDeleteOops! No tempoyak... Hmmmm...should have asked from me, lots in the fridge. Hehehehehe!!!!
DeleteYou used the cili padi kering kah? Soooo many, no wonder pedas!!!
DeleteYou want to send the tempoyak ah? Faster if Mama Kucing go Pasar Tani and buy herself! LOL
DeleteDont send tempoyak......later posmen pengsan leh....
DeleteIf your husband said "Pedas" then it must be very spicy! hahaha... hey, what is Small Kucing holding?
ReplyDeleteMustard.
DeleteAuntie Lina uses the same brand. Always keep one in the house.
Lina is right. Mustard
DeleteI'm not a spicy food fan... so i prefer steam or fried fish :)
ReplyDeleteLazy to fry co will be too oily. Cant steam as the fish was in the freeze long time already :(
DeleteHahaha...J so clever just bought a gift for papa enough.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteOh Well... Some recipes fail and some are fabulous... That's just Life... AT least, Mama tried it.... Glad you had the mustard, Little Kucing, since maybe putting some mustard on the dish made it better....??????
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Definitely not on traditional Malay food! LOL
DeleteNah...not for asam pedas. It will make it taste weird. Maybe eat with steamed chicken better
DeleteI also did a prawn, but turn out... haizzzz....
ReplyDeleteI send you a PM in FB, but no reply from you...
DeleteHahahaha...2 x5 :p
DeleteReplied :)
Ahhhh! you should pass the asam pedas to me. It will make me so happy and fabulously enjoyed with rice.
ReplyDeletehahahah....yea....didnt think of that
Deletemaybe the Patin fish doesn't like mamarazzi, or they only loved to be steamed and no spicy for them?? hehe, or perhaps it will only be successful with mamarazzi's improvise way of cooking without following recipes?? :D
ReplyDeleteactually i find that chili paste mamarazzi made seemed to be very delicious enough already woh.. next time can consider having just that for the steam patin?? sure will be a success~~ :p
Deletewow, the comments were truly two extremes huh?? one said too hot and one said too sweet?? haiyoyo, like that also very confusing lah, sure mamarazzi also more blur like octopus how to improve~~ :D
Deletehaha!! mustard sauce for paparazzi as the father's day present?? errr, so "unique" and "unexpected" huh?? errr, what's small kucing going to eat with the mustard?? hmmm, sausages?? pork chop?? ahh, nice nice, but i bet small kucing will despise the mustard sauce~~ :D
DeleteMama Kucing is one rajin cat.
DeleteI cooked the patin very simply.
Fried lightly.
Then cooked with lotsa ginger and a bit of oyster sauce.
Sedap and not much hassle. hehehee
Ya lor no luck with patin...
DeleteAlready done steam patin hence thought wanna try other cooking style lor..
Tge goreng one mamarazzi failed la. The isi hancur
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteErm unsatisfying ikan patin dish? May be Mamarazzi doesn't have 'fate' with ikan patin? :p
But never mind la, like I always say, practice makes perfect! I am sure one day you'll know the 'secrets' in cooking ikan patin!
Deletesigh,.....really no luck
Deletewell i believe that dishes taste depending on other
ReplyDeletepeople's preference, i mean some people like a dish
which was too spicy some are not
in your case i know you like spicy foods right?
sure but this one really failed
DeleteIf only i could get to taste that just by looking at it,
ReplyDeletehaha the finish product seems great to me
hahaha rather spicy
Deleteanyway, i apologize for my delated comments,
ReplyDeleteand me missing in action its just that iam so busy
sigh...you have having Mamarazzi's illness....for a moment there she thought you meant "Deleted"

DeleteSmall Kucing, looks like you win hands-down with that perfect Father's Day present.
ReplyDeleteThe chili blend looks delicious.
:)
DeleteLooks good. It's ok..try again next time. :)
ReplyDeletewow, you cooked spicy fish. I only know how to fry or steam the fish.
ReplyDeletelesen lembu lor hence tak jadi
DeleteHey Small kucing, your mamarazzi may not be a good chef because she is a pussy cat too. Her tongue and taste could be weird. Better eat canned food. Wakakakakaka
ReplyDeleteToo much canned food jelak ler
DeleteI thought the best and safest way to cook good fish is to wrap them in foils and baked. The marinated curry paste inside would make all the fishes heavenly nice!
ReplyDeletenow you are giving mamarazzi idea....maybe next time try that
