We were around The Store Sg Buloh on Wednesday. It was near dinner time. Hmmm...what to eat? Then Mamarazzi recalled Twilight Man's posted about Restaurant Nasi Kandar Fareed.
Asked Papa wanna eat Nasi Kandar or not? Papa said "OK" and off we went hunting for Nasi Kandar Fareed.
Searched the address in sygic and waze, Can't find...wokay la....just "hentam" the nearest address la, BRP 8/1. Sure the restaurant would be somewhere nearby there
Fuiyoh...no need to hunt....saw there was a BIG sign at the main road...yippee!!!
At the time we were there, they was serving three types of rice. The normal plain white rice, the yellow rice and the briyani rice. Saw they have other food too like Tomyam but our main purpose is Nasi Kandar.
Papa had the normal white rice but asked the guy for "nasi banjir"(flood rice) . Actually it means to put a lot of gravy(curry) into the rice.
Hence the guy "drown" the rice with gravy from all the types of spicy curry they had there.
It came with the cabbage cooked in turmeric.
He took additional two pieces of "sotong"(Squid?)
Mamarazzi had the Nasi Briyani with two types of vegetable and bit of meat.
She was less adventurous. She asked the guy to put tiny bit of gravy on to the rice. Yeah...she can't take too much of spicy food.
Mamarazzi was delighted when she saw they have this...Chicken heart (LOL). She loves them to bits.
Let me tell you some thing. When she went to Yuen Steamboat in Dataran Mentari, they had a big container of these. She kept going there for more. Said taste nicer than gizzard and liver.
As for me....I had plain yellow rice with "Ham Dan"(Salted duck egg).
Nope....no chili, no curry, no worry for me. I like my rice as it is!
Gave up using spoon when saw Papa enjoying his plate of Nasi Kandar using hands. Much yummy eating using hand.
Oh ya...Papa ordered additional plate of these...what is it? It's "Telur Sotong". Hmmm....direct translation in English "Squid Eggs"....am I correct? Sorry ya if translation failed.
Uhhhhh ...sinful food.....high cholesterol but it tasted great leh......
Hmmm.....This TM recommendation good la. Food here ngum our taste.
Best part is the gravy ....fuiyoh...can see Papa eat till "raining" and yet wanna eat some more.
And the price.....oh well....
See for yourselves. Not that pricey, right? That is inclusive of our 6 or 7 glasses of drinks.Usually it's the drinks the would bite into the bill.
Hmm....I wonder Kaw kaw LC will dare to try or not? Heard TM said during lunch time there will be more dishes than in the evening.

DeleteYour papa is Kaldip and he is a Benggali that's why he could use his hands!! It is so rare that a Chinese could master using hands. I heard the food would taste better lah. I must ask Kaldip to teach me how to lick the rice from my palm cos I failed many times.

ReplyDeleteNot that far from your sis place with GPS
Delete6 to 7 glasses? LOL. Thought I'm the only one who had 'lidah mem' here. hehehe... If I was there, I bet I'll order just like smallkucing had. hehe.
ReplyDeleteLOL....pedas tapi syiok
DeleteVERY cheap for a nasi kandar place. All that I've been to (in Penang and Sg Petani), daylight robbers! Got slaughtered. I prefer liver...masak rendang or masak hitam. Nice!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah lor...ahem ahem....better not let the boss know else might naik harga pulak :p....sure wanna go back there to makan more
DeleteOohh I love nasi banjir also! The more curry the better! Over here no nasi kandar so the closest is Indian rice.. and I always asked for more curry on my rice! Hehe
ReplyDeleteops....made you kepunan pulak
DeleteNot a huge fan of nasi briyani but it does looks good especially the curry banjir.
ReplyDeleteyup this one sedap for us
DeleteTelur sotong? never heard before but like the style of how its been prepared. The nasi is colorful and inviting. Should be a good try for me.
ReplyDeleteyup....Think you will like it
DeleteBananaz fav telur sotong or ikan but mama used to say eat too much can't count one will not be clever in arithmetics which I think she was right. A self-fulfilling prophecy or Bananaz is plain stupid with maths.
DeleteOoo no wonder mamarazzi dumb dumb in maths lol...sik kai tan
DeleteWah...nasi kandar sedapnya......
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed using my fingers to eat this type of rice too! Can jilat the gravy. haha....*gross*
DeleteI dare not try hati ayam......really that delicious ?
The price not that expensive afterall. Normally, when I take 1 piece of chicken and some vege with rice, already cost me RM6 ! Freaking expensive. If took 2 types of meat, the bill sometimes goes up to RM9 !
DeleteHati nice ah/...very bouncy ...a bit like gizzard but less tough
DeleteNow i see everything also nice !! Want to try too if got chance.. love squid eggs... only nasi kandar shops have.. chinese shops no cook one.. :)
ReplyDeleteyup...come come...lunch there and dinner yin her :p
DeleteSounds like you have a nice friendship with Twilight Man... I knew him as a blog friend before I knew you... He is one smart young man ---and his English is fabulous... I'm always impressed when you and others like him --learn our crazy English language....
ReplyDeleteGlad he recommended the restaurant for you. Sounds a little spicy to me... I'd be drinking lots and lots of cold water (or something cold).... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
LOl yeah....Just got to know him not long ago. Love his chatty blog :)
DeleteOMG. Someone praised me from USA.
DeleteOOppps ! I thought I was vulgar at times.
Betsy and George are 2 lovely darlings I wanna imitate so that I could have nice retirement lives traveling non stop!
We are all crazy bunch learning ENglish language.
DeleteWho would've thought some of us actually quite proficient in them too? :P
Oh no wonder the name Fareed looks so familiar, it's the shop recommended by TM the other day!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind having nasi kandar once a while, despite the price, hehe~
DeleteBut at the moment, cannot find really good nasi kandar in Taiping...
hahaha yeah Anay's best friend .....
Deletewah, this mamarazzi very fast "hand leg"!! i remember TM just posted about this Nasi Kandar Fareed not long ago, and there she was already there to savour the great food!!
ReplyDeletecoz was around there lo...so try out lo...Anay never recommend food geh...once he recommend must go try leh
DeleteThis Small Cat is scary and would prance anywhere!!!
DeleteMuhahaha kaki rayau....maybe should change blog name
Deletethe photos didn't look very attractive but then i am sure the taste was very delicious!! after all when we come to these traditional restaurants, presentation (or perhaps as well as the service) are not the focus, but the taste of the food.. agree??
ReplyDeleteerrr, that chicken heart shocked me a while lah.. at first i thought mamarazzi found a bug or roach inside the rice!! muahahaha, rupa-rupanya chicken heart~~ :p
DeleteYou know Mamarazzi snap photo kaput one la....Taste of theixed curry really got umph leh.
Deletedid you have the chance to meet Mr Fareed that day?? it would be nice if every blogger goes there and take a photo with him, then pass the photo to TM to print out nice banners for Mr Fareed to hang it at the entrance.. hahaha!! what do you think TM?? :p
ReplyDeleteThought it's Mr Fareed but Anay said it;s the worker. Similar face as Mr Fareed
DeletePhotos?....eee malu la
Good idea to print famous bloggers faces with Mr Fareed! All the famous ones are SK Thambee, Mak Glam and Small Kucing!
Deletei would like to say the price is not expensive at all!! usually i avoid to have nasi kandar because i know they usually cost a bomb (and not forgetting that the calculation of the total always doesn't have a standard in many places).. but this one, with 6-7 drinks somemore only less than RM30?? very fair pricing..
ReplyDeleteya wor..heard horror story of Nasi kandar hence dare not go but this one was ok la...
DeleteTM when are we going cannot sit still already seperti pisang ooops kera kena belacan? During Ramadan if open would not be so packed but kesian Lina cannot join us. So how? This weekend wokay?
ReplyDeleteMe wokay but the anay duno leh
DeleteYeah, this kind of "chap fun" mamak style is popular. It must be the chilli dishes that are drawing the crowds.
ReplyDeleteYup...the chili they mix everything
DeleteLove Small Kucing's expression lah.
ReplyDeleteMake Auntie Lina hungry looking at him eat like that. :)
Replying comments here pun padah coz hingry for it again mow
Deletehaha... so cute la you! Their curry really best! You should learn to eat chilly and curry! It's the best part of food. By the way, which part of our tongue taste spiciness?
ReplyDeleteAgree with you there. ..but hor..these spicy dish I don't like..but if u give me instant noodles tom yam or asam laksa I can sapu habis without complaint. ..
