Barley Drink with Corn "Hair"?

During one of our trips to the Pasar Malam (Night Market), Mamarazzi saw this stall selling sweet corns.

Apart from sweet corn they seems to be selling the "hair"(what do you call that...the strands of hair in the corn? is it "silk"?)

A bag of these cost RM2. Mamarazzi asked the vendor what are the uses of the "hair".

Actually Ah Mah had said before that boiling the "hair" with Barley have medicinal value. It will help greatly for those who have cough.

But the vendor says boiling the "hair" with barley will help with the "wee wee" problem for men. Said some men after a certain age will have problem to wee wee. Drinking this, will help the shh shh come out easily.

Anyway, she bought some corn instead. Steam for me and Papa to eat.

She kept the "hair". Hmmm....this corn is a bit Botak like me. Not much "hair"

Just small bunch of "hair" from three cob of corn.

 A packet of Barley.

Throw everything in the pot and boil for about 45minutes.

 Jeng! Jeng! Barley.......for me.

 A taste....

I don't like. I want Ribena can ah?

  3. Last time, my father had diabetes (from drinking Coca Cola every day, two bottles at least...at his shop). He dried the corn hair...and then boiled to make tea to drink. Eventually, no more diabetes.

Woa.. I didn't know that the 'hair' was useful in medication. When I was child, I use that hair to become our 'mi goreng' when playing 'masak-masak'. hehehe...
Can try lah this method since my husband now is not yet recovering from cough.

  14. you steam your corn ah?? did you know you can also cook that using microwave, and save lots of water?? just wrapped the corn (of course the skin removed) with wet kitchen roll, then place them into the microwave about 7 mins at high power.. viola, they are done!! it's because of some principles of convention circulation of the steam that cook the corn, simple and quick!!

You got wee wee problem at night, meh, for one so young? Of course not, hor? You know, I was told that for kids, "sang soke ee mai" is better than the regular barley because it is not so 'hon leong'. It's good for the whole family too. You can get that from the Chinese sinseh shop.
