Peking Duck and Dim Sum at Di Wei Chinese Restaurant, Empire Hotel Subang

Went "gai-gai" at Empire Shopping Gallery. It was 2pm and was looking for something to eat.

Mamarazzi saw big signboard as we enter ESG that a Chinese Restaurant was having Peking Duck promotion. RM39.90 a duck. That was pretty cheap right.

Being the "smart alleck" that she was, she misread and thought it was Ding Tai Fung that was having the promotion.

We headed there and waited in front of the restaurant coz there was a signboard that says "Wait to be seated". Unfortunately, nobody was manning that counter. Waited at that counter quite sometime before the Waitress have time to "layan" us. She told us kindly that they do not have the Peking Duck Promotion. It's Di Wei that is having the promotion.

Off we went upstairs to Di Wei.

Wow...very wide dining space . Very comfortable. They even have plates for kids.

The only down thing is that when we flip through the Menu, we found that many dishes were listed as "Sold Off".

Nevertheless, we managed to get what we came for.

Service very friendly and fast.

We ordered a duck. They brought the uncut duck to our table for our viewing before they cut it in front of us.

Another lady roll up the meat for us.

The thinly sliced meat plus the crispy skin is placed on a piece of flat bread. Something like thin Pita Bread. Then added some spring onion, slice of cucumber and  sauce. Then roll it up

Tada!!! It's ready to eat!

mini "popiah"

Lemme taste

Delicious! one bite is not enough

What happen to the rest of the duck?

This happen! Cooked with noodle. The duck was RM39.90/duck and the second dish RM15++. This counted as second dish la.

Aiyak...Mamarazzi should have asked to tapau the bones of the duck too coz can take home to make duck porridge.

As for the noodle....slurpeelicious!

I love it!

Apart from that we had Mixed mushroom dish. Not really to Mamarazzi's liking

But Mamarazzi certainly enjoyed this cold dish very much. Supposed to be appetizer. Jellyfish and Chicken.

You can see how cold it is from the Chicken Skin. Bet you guys/gals encounter it before right? When you are too cold, your skin will have goosebumps.

Papa ordered some Dim Sum too. Fried Brinjal

Fu Chuk Rolls

And Steamed Fresh Scallop Dumplings

Delicious looking ya? Mamarazzi LOVED it very much.

I ate so much till I can't eat anymore.

Food were great and so was the service. One minor thing that marred the experience for Mamarazzi was that we were being asked to pay the bill as we were enjoying our meal. It was nearly 3pm and they were going to close. One of the waitress brought us our bill despite that we have not finished eating.

No, they did not ask us to leave but I felt uncomfortable eating after that coz I was worried that they will close the door and we would be left inside. Papa and Mamarazzi told me not to worry but still.......

Hmm...next time must come and makan earlier. Hopefully they will extend the Peking Duck Promotion la. It was from June to August 2012 only.

    1. I agree with SK.

I take offense when staff want to enforce that "Please wait to be seated" but with an empty restaurant and no staff to show us our seats. Sure will show face one!

    2. Duno la...maybe it's near closing time or what. Standing by the door next to the counter. Some waiter/waitress saw but maybe not their job to man the counter that day. Waited for the person in charge to come gua

  9. cheh, so they make you actually spend more lah?? RM39.90 for the duck, but then you only eat the skin and little bit of meat.. then the rest they "force" you to cook with other dishes but you need to top up??

  26. Peking Duck...it reminds of something very funny that happened many many years ago when I first had this Peking Duck in Beijing.

I think many people also know that you have to eat it together with the bread but because the waitress did not serve both at the same time instead just leave a plate of Peking Duck right in front of us (the tourist), so we just makanlah and sapu all the duck without the bread and when the waitress later bring out the bread...all of us was like...huh ?????? what's that???

So we ended up eating the Peking Duck and bread separately....new style :(
