Water Chestnut Thong Sui(dessert)

My class party is coming soon. Mamarazzi was wondering what to pack for me to bring for the party. Many mommies would be baking cupcakes and muffins . Think there would be muffins/cupcakes overload there. Last term, Cikgu even packed some muffins for us to bring home.

Mamarazzi is thinking making something simple. Maybe Water chestnut Thong Sui?

It's so easy to make. Just need a few Water chestnut. Chop them up .

Let them boil in Pandan Leaves and sugar water. Slowly add whipped eggs.

And the Thong sui is ready. Can drink Chilled or warm. But the only problem is how to pack it? Should she bring the whole pot to the kiddie and let the helper there serve the children or should she go and buy those paper cups with cover and fill it and bring to the kiddie?

  3. No junk food, it is good for them!!! I think if she has the time, take the pot to the teacher. Either way, they will still need cups, but maybe the school has some.

  5. Ooohh, ma tai tong sui, I like.. Very crunchy and "heong" tong sui.. I also always tapau this tong sui if I pass by that place.. I somemore told my hubby, wah looks like birds nest tong sui.. They put jelly strips inside too, together with the ma tai and egg.. So it really looks (and taste) like birds nest, teehee..

Oh yes, class party coming soon.. 27th is Children's Day.. Kz's kindy will be having Children's Day + Teacher's Day celebration together on that day.. Inside the message book, the teachers already ask what food we are sponsoring.. I will be bringing cupcakes.. Nope, not make myself, I ordered from home-baker in my condo lor, senang..

If me, I prefer to scoop up and pack into individual plastic bowls+cover.. If bring the whole pot there, later they have to find bowls la, spoons la, then wana scoop la.. Human ahh, very funny.. If served in front of you, sure will take and habis all.. If ask you go and take yourself, sure lazy one, kekekekee...

  8. hmmm, yeah, don't bring the whole pot lah.. just put them into separate containers, like bottles or cups better, and then better still, allow names to be written on the bottles or cups so that the kids won't get the messed up which is whose.. or better still, let Small Kucing tell the names of each of the kids, then Mamarazzi write them on beforehand.. when delivered to the kindie and distribute to the kids, calling the names is like giving out presents.. sure the kids will be more happy :)

  9. awwww.. so nice lah, class party on the last day of the term to celebrate school holidays!! Uncle SK miss that so much.. last time the teacher will ask every student to say what they will be bringing, so that there will not be too many repeat or same kind of food.. are the teacher doing this ah?? still remember there were so many things to eat, like fried noodles, curry chicken, sausages, chicken wings, jelly, drinks, cakes and so on - last time not "heng" cupcakes and sort so we don't have that, mostly cooked food~~ miss that!!

  16. Ah, I didn't know can make tong sui with water chestnut. I usually make into the water chestnut cakes. Thanks for this post! Gave me a good idea on how to use up the frozen bag of water chestnuts in my freezer. It will be great for us to have now in Autumn here where the weather is so dry now. Thanks Mamarazzi!

  17. I salute your Mamarazzi. She can cook almost anything edible under the sun! You better marry a good wife who will learn all your mummy's recipes.

  18. I would suggest that you carry the pot of Thong Sui to the kiddies and scoop them into the cups for everyone to drink on the spot. Hope your friends will enjoy the treat!
