Chargrilled Whole Squid with Lemon and Black Pepper

As Mamarazzi mentioned in earlier post, Uncle Anton gave us a whole lot of fish and sotong(Squid).

All quite big. SHe was not sure how and what to cook it with. Sambal Petai? Hmm ...fridge no petai wor.

Look for Mr G la. Found Jamie Oliver's recipe for  "Chargrilled whole squid with chilli & mint".

As usual...Mamarazzi didn't have the complete ingredients so she "pakai hentam" la. Slitted the sotong like what Jamie Oliver did.

Put lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, black pepper and salt then drizzled all over the squid.

Sumbat(stuffed) the whole tray into the oven .

As the sotong were turning white, before it hangus start to char, she too out and spoon up some of the "juice" from the tray. This to be use as dip for the sotong.

 Finally......it's ready...

Taste...not bad. Fuiyo...the sotong were full of "eggs" (roe) . Papa love to eat the roe.

Well, kira as not bad la for first attempt making this Chargrilled Squid.

  1. Looks delicious. We have a recipe using Tilapia which uses lemon pepper (lemon and pepper in a spice)... Love it.

  4. OMG, your squid looks so delicious !! I can finish all the squid and all the roe la.. Wah, aku asyik je telan air liur nie..

Eh, mamarazzi's pakai-hentam method always works leh.. Supposed to have mint right, but no mint also nevermind.. The recipe is good enuff without mint (coz I also don't like mint).. I might choose to omit mint also if I cook this recipe.. I also like to pakai-hentam.. If me ahh, when I see the word lemon juice, I sure hentam add some butter and crushed garlic inside..

Mamarazzi very clever, use the oven.. The oven is very useful, helps us a lot leh in our daily cooking.. No need to deal with oil splatters, wiping the walls and what-nots.. Just marinade with good ingredients, kasi "yap mei", then chuck into the oven and bake.. Healthier than frying.. And no oil used (unless you add butter inside, which I usually do)..

So you guys makan itu aje? No rice? Other dishes mana? Fish? Sure the fish will be in the next post.. Can't wait to see mamarazzi's pakai-hentam method to cook the fish pulak..

  8. oh, so many telur inside ah?? errr, but i don't really like the telur lah, cos it's soggy and i can "tergelintir" (errr, is my spelling right ah??) eating that.. still prefer the crunchy type of sotong which is empty inside lah..

Perfect for CNY dinner too, but like my dear told me, it needs to be served whole. Haha! She said that for fish anyway, or else it's "no head no tail".

Happy CNY to you and your family Kathy! :D
