Dinner at Empire Hotel, Subang Jaya

Another basi post. On 31st August we were invited to Pek Kong's 80th Birthday Dinner at Empire Hotel, Subang Jaya.

Dinner supposed to start at 7pm. 5pm Ah Mah, Ah Kong and kaw Kaw already dressed to their best. By   6pm we were already there.

There was a small "cocktail" party before the dinner. Hungry ah.......makan muruku first.

Sharp 7pm we went into the hall....aiya should have bring along the bowl of murukku in but shy la.....stomach growling.

I tengah hungry, this guy come take photo of me pulak....

I pun take photo of him la.....Papa said if hungry ask that the Uncle (waiter) for food la. But i mistaken waiter with this guy. He asked me what I wanna eat. I said noodle. He said don't have but have McD...I said okay la....he told me to wait.....

Listening to Lenglui singing while waiting for my food.

Finally....around 7.45pm the MC announced asking all the children and grandchildren to gather outside the hall. For a moment there I thought the MC was asking "Children" a.k.a me(kid) to go out. But Mamarazzi said not me.

Phew....lucky I didn't go out else will be embarrassed as the MC meant Children of the Birthday Boy.The  Birthday Boy made a grand entrance surrounded by his beloved children and grand children.

 Around 8.03pm the food arrived.

Super hungry .....can't wait to eat

But still got time to "kaypoh" this blinking Ice Cube which they use for decoration for the food. Very clever.

Next comes the soup. this hotel very "diplomatic" leh. The sharkfin they put in a separate bowl. For those who doesn't take sharkfin, they can just have the soup. If those who eat sharkfin. they can just scoop some into their own bowl

How do you guys usually takes sharkfin/non sharkfin soup? Mamarazzi likes to put vinegar and pickled green chilly. Some would put brandy.

Next dish was roast duck and roast Chicken.

 Hehehe......use hand faster la...
Fish......Big steamed fish....but I ate a bit only coz scared there are bone.

 Yummy big big prawns.

Birthday Boy was then serenade by his grand children. One of his grand children wrote a song specially for him. So talented.

Next cake cutting ceremony

Nah...we didn't get to eat that gigantic cake. Not sure whether it's real cake or fake one like in most weddings.

Instead, we get to eat these delicious muffins.

It's got 4.....Mamarazzi, Papa and Ah Mah gave me theirs.

Next......noodle....if not mistaken ..it's mi suah.....but it's nothing like what Uncle Arthur belanja me eat before geh......I like Uncle Arthur's version more.

With all the food and all the wine, everyone were in a "happy mode". Instead of staying at the table, people started walking around and mingled....me too.......enjut enjut on stage......

Getting nearer to the "blondie."

Gonna be midnight liao....when dinner gonna be over ah? I kept asking Papa can we go home now.... sleepy leh.

 Last dish..... longevity dumpling.

Hmmm...before that.......gotta call that guy up....

Where the heck is my McD? 7pm delivery till 12midnight still haven't arrive...5 hours leh..... but that guy was not picking up his phone....adui....I kena bluff againnn...........

  15. I don't support Killing Sharks but i ate almost all the sharks fin soups as the restaurants don't serve genuine ones these days. It will cost RM80 at least for a small bowl of genuine one.

It is easy to tell whether real or faked by just taking your spoon to press the thin fins on the plate. A real one is not easy to break like those made from Tung Fan glass noodles. Even the suppliers who sell the faked sharks fins have different grades these days like - Grade A Fake (Almost impossible to tell) until low Grade C Fake (Like eating Tung fan strips)

  19. I feel for ya, kiddo. That's why I pre-eat before I go for these things, haha. But still starving when the first dish comes out :P

I take my shark's "fin" (using the word loosely here) soup with just soy sauce. No vinegar. I remember an uncle of mine who takes his with just chilli (padi or pickled). I also think it's just "tang hoon" these days and not actual fin too :P

She recalls last time when she attended a relative's "Sau Chau" they have this big bun and when cut open there are many smaller buns inside
