Yay! Last Thursday was Mid-Autumn festival a.k.a mooncakes festival
See this! Skin so thin and the paste was so soft. Would you believe that this is made by a first timer? Such big yolk.
Papa loves it very much. Much nicer than those store bought. Not that sweet too. Just nice.
Anay claimed that he help Letchumi to make the paste. Betul ka? Thank you again for the mooncakes .
Guess what is this?
It's called Pua Kumbu.
According to wikipedia
"Pua Kumbu is a traditional patterned multicolored ceremonial cotton cloth used by the Iban, made and used in Sarawak, Malaysia. Pua kumbu are woven by Dayak women and are considered to be sacred objects. They are used for lifecycle rituals and special events including the birth of a child, coming of age celebrations, receipt of an important item to a longhouse, and to screen a corpse that is being laid out in a longhouse prior to burial.
Beside Pua Kumbu, there are also Pua Sungkit and Pua Karap."
Can you guess who sent it? It's from Uncle Arthur. Gosh! it must have cost a bomb. Thank you very much Uncle Arthur. Ang ang sui sui.
Hehehe......on Mid-Autumn Festival night, I get to play with Tanglung(lantern) and candles.
Mamarazzi said i look like Minions here.
papa said i look like Donald Duck.
So how was your "mooncake festival"?

DeleteNext year we all order from letchumi la. Nice yum yum
DeleteI don't know about Minions or anything, you just look plain CUTE!!! The Moon cakes look wonderful and special. And the Pua Kumbu are so beautiful looking, would be so pretty just thrown over couch at home or to snuggle in.

Deleteaiyoh, those mooncake made with love from Anay and Letchumi!! awesome, they look professional indeed, and Letchumi was just a first timer?? unbelievable.. what an honor to be the first they thought of giving you the mooncake huh?? haha, not white mice lah~~ :D
ReplyDeleteTak kisah jadi white mice leh since it's so nicely bake. Sedap. Not too sweet also
Deleteyes, those mooncakes look very delicious indeed, better than those sold outside.. the skin is thin, the lotus paste is packed, and more importantly fresh and moist enough, and i guess it's also not as sweet and as oily and as jelak as those commercial ones right??
ReplyDeleteNope not that sweet n not that oily too
Deletei think next year we can order mooncakes from Anay and Letchumi already, i think they sure can give good discounts while selling a lot cheaper than the market price right?? hehehe~~ i like the white and green snow skin, what flavors are those?? they look like those very very very pure jade, nice!!!
ReplyDeleteThe two have white paste. I think u will like. Got add nuts too
Deletehaha, this small kucing can be a good actor lah, can make himself looked like minions and donald duck!! hehe.. but Uncle SK thought not look like minion but look like the Monkey King "Suen Mmm Hong", wakakaka!! BTW, mamarazzi only bought those flowery lanterns?? no minions lantern for small kucing?? :D
ReplyDeleteLol.....flower lantern cheaper ma..less than rm10 can get 5-6 jor. Those minions ones expensive leh
DeleteNothing beats home made moon cakes! My mom made some the other day too, but she said too expensive to send over. :( Too bad I have to miss out!
ReplyDeleteMbe next year you will be making moon cakes over there leh
DeleteWhoaaa! Anay's moon cakes! I thought got some censored photos showing today. Muahahahahaha
ReplyDelete:p
DeleteLetchumy used to help her mother to make moon cakes when she was a small kid. Of course she chose her own recipe this time as she didn't want to use preservatives. We learnt a lot from this experience on how the ancient Chinese folks ate them in China! They had no fridge and the weather was cold & dry at this Mid Autumn, so they never used preservatives in this recipe she found. Here our weather is so hot & humid and fungus will grow very fast.
ReplyDeleteTell letchumi no chance for it to grow fungus . Lol
DeleteWah! Special mooncake festival for you!
ReplyDeleteHome made mooncake.

DeletePlay lanterns at new house, must be syiok huh :) I like to play with traditional lanterns too~
ReplyDeleteMuch nicer than the battery operated ones right?
DeleteThose moon cakes are so pretty. They must be more of a paste to go into a mold, huh.
ReplyDeleteSaw floating lanterns in the air. Looks beautiful but suddenly Amani shouted 'Atuu atuu...' (Hantu), then I shoo her to go inside our house. LOL. Happy mooncake festival, although it's pretty late. muhuhu.
ReplyDeleteKesian amani. Those floating tanglung are wishing tanhlung I think. People "release" these with their wishes up the sky
