Big Project Revealed

Okay la…I have been hinting about a “big project” for a few times…..wanna know what “big project”? Here it is ….my new house.

Yea yea yea…..We have just “moved” into the new house. Hence, Mamarazzi no time to blog hop.  Really Big Big Project …have to pack and unpack. Packing is easy but unpacking was a headache. Have to think where to put the things.

Moreover, no internet line yet over here. Mr M's data line is practically non-existing. Gotta buy 4D if got data line from Mr M.

Need to go to McDonald or one of those free WiFi places to get online. So, jangan marah ye if I didn't drop by your blogs but will sure try and drop by if there is line.

Everything was a bit rushed. Kitchen Cabinets , air-conditioning and some things not fixed on yet, went we moved in on 19th August. Ah Mah was coming on 22nd August. Have to get everything on track lor.

Nice or not? This is the room for Mamarazzi’s library. She likes yellow hence have it painted yellow

Initially I wanted my room to be “rainbow” colors but then I revised it to be blue. Two shades of blue. One dark blue and one light blue.
Thank you Jie Jie Diana Diane Teo for this gift. It arrived just before we moved.

Two days before we moved, Auntie S and Auntie Florence came over to help with the packing. Fuiyoh…very syok leh coz they “tapau-ed” Sri Petaling’s famous Nasi Lemak for us. Yup…It’s located opposite Lucky Restaurant. This Nasi Lemak stall very syok one leh. They give you the packet of rice and you can take any “liu”(cucumber, peanuts, anchovies, hard boiled eggs, chicken and etc) as much as you like.

Thank you very much to Auntie S and Auntie Florence for all your help .

The day before we were scheduled to move, the contractor were  still busy at work. That evening after they left, I get to make a mess.

Yup, you heard me right. According to certain Chinese custom, before you moved into a new house, you have to sprinkle Rice+rock salt+tealeaves all over the house. This is in order to chase away any evil spirits residing there.

And according to Uncle SK, also on the day when you moved into the house, must turned on the fans full blast and boil water…hence adhere to Chinese saying “Fung Shan, Shui Hei” (Wind Mountain, water up) which means good luck will come to the house.

Nah…Papa does not believe in all these mumbo jumbo…what look for good dates to move house la…or cannot move house during Ghost Festival month la. But Mamarazzi thought what the heck. Since everyone says must sprinkle those things lor…just hentam do la.

The night before, I had fun sprinkling the Rice+rock salt+tealeaves at all corners of the house. While sprinkling I say “Go away! Go away, please. I want to move in”.

Mamarazzi said according to Por Por, ghost/spirit cannot step one these things as it would hurt then….okay la….ang moh ghost may “glide” …maybe Chinese ghost “walk” la.

Errr...hopefully the spirits will guai guai go away la ...not like what happen to Auntie Wenn in her post about her first rented house where she moved in during Ghost Festival.

Well, as kitchen was “Work-in-progress”, Mamarazzi did not boil water in a big pot in the kitchen. Instead she used electric kettle to boil water in what formerly was the “kitchen”. Hope it will work just as well  …..

Meantime , as MeCoy says..."Happy Blogging!"

  1. Great news!! HUGE news!!! I LOVE the beautiful pale yellow room. And you looks so cute in your room holding the drink! The two shades of blue will be awesome!! I had not heard of this tradition about what you do to the house, but Auntie must have gotten a house with crying spirits living there, very depressing! I hope her next house was a happy one!

  2. haha, yea indeed the ang moh ghost will glide.
    ai, it's just superstitious.
don't think about what I say. I shifted to an old house but yours is a brand new house. So should be no problem shifting in.
I also sprinkled rice mixed with salt all over my new house before we shifted in.

  33. So this is your big, big project. Heartiest Congratulations! I always enjoy moving house because I always like a new environment. I'm sure you would enjoy your new home too.

Your Mamarazzi must be loving the room for all her books - a new library no less. And your blue room must be breezy and cool.

Good that you and your M followed some suggestions on 'cleansing' the new environment. No loss but plenty to gain in the long run. Enjoy your new home!

  34. Wow, very nice new home. Congrats ya! Show more pics la ;) We also moved in (PJ home last time) during the 7th Chinese ghost month. As long as you are not superstitious, ok one la ;)
