Razor scooters are all the rage again and it is only a matter of time before your kids decide they want scooters of their very own. The question really isn’t whether or not you should get a scooter for your kids. The question how to help your kids stay safe on the scooters they get.
1. Motorized?
Motorized scooters can be really fun but not every kid is ready to be trusted with a motorized vehicle. It probably feels weird to think of a scooter as a vehicle but it is. It’s best to hold off on the motorized versions until your child is old enough to be given the keys to a car (or trusted on a dirt bike).
2. Helmets
It is important that, even when your kids are riding their scooters, they wear the proper safety gear. A good helmet is the first thing you need to buy. If your kids are partial to the razor brand, you can reduce your safety gear costs by using a Razorama coupon code to get them branded gear (so that you know it will actually be worn—even when you aren’t looking). Don’t forget to get knee and elbow guards as well!
3. Shoes
Like with most other things, it is important to have the right shoes on when riding your scooter. Your kids will need shoes that are cushioned with good traction. I would recommend some Nike's for your kids feet. Nike is a reputable company with top of the line shoes, so your kids will be safer and better prepared when riding their scooters. Luckily there are plenty of Nike coupons floating around the web—so buying shoes shouldn’t be too expensive.
4. Size Matters
You might be tempted to buy a scooter that is just a touch too big for your child because of how quickly your child grows and the unpredictability of growth spurts. Don’t give in to this urge! It is incredibly important that you choose the proper sized scooter for your child. Something too big or too little is going to cause problems.
5. Training Scooters
If your kids are still very young, it’s worth it to get them a scooter that has two wheels on the back and one on the front. You do this with a bicycle, right? You start with a tricycle and then move to a bicycle that has training wheels. Going with a tri-wheeled scooter, particularly for a little kid, is the safest way to go. When they get older and have gotten the hang of balancing on bicycles and roller blades, you can switch them over to a more “streamlined” wheel arrangement.
6. Supervision
Until your kids have gotten a lot of experience, don’t let them ride their scooters unsupervised. Spend time with them supporting them (both figuratively and literally) while they learn how to balance, start off and stop safely. Even once they can get around without your physical help; it’s good to supervise them until you feel confident that the falling will be the exception and not the rule.
With spring and summer setting in, your kids are going to want to get out into the fresh air more often. A scooter is a great way to get them up and moving!

DeleteAmong all, I think the supervision is very important especially when the kids are just beginning to ride. Also kids these days are so nakal, therefore leaving them alone on the scoot is not a good idea, you don't know what they fiddle on.
