Thong Yuen Making with NuStevia Simple Syrup

Mamarazzi wasn't planning to make any Thong Yuen last Winter Solstice celebration. But the Papa was hinting about Thong Yuen...even give Mamarazzi newspaper cutting about Thong Yuen that have peanuts filings.

Thong Yuen are Glutinous Rice Balls usually served in sweet syrup. Most frequently, eaten during Winter Solstice Festival.

Wokay la...that morning Mamarazzi followed the recipe lo. It was from The Star Newspaper but now Mamarazzi tried to find the recipe online....it's missing pulak. Again..."agak-agak" recipe syndrome lah:

Ingredients for the Dough

200g glutinous rice flour
1 tbsp wheat starch (tang mein fun)
100ml boiled water

Ingredients for the Filling :

 1/2 cup peanut
 50g sesame seeds
 50g butter
 50g of Gula Melaka

Ingredients for the Syrup :

1 1/2 tbsp of NuStevia Simple Syrup (or to taste)
20g dried chrysanthemum flowers
10g goji
300ml water

Method :

Dough:

Mixed the wheat starch and glutinous rice fliur together. Slowly add in to water and knead it till it become dough.

Divide the dough into how many colours you are planning to make.

Leave it to "relax" for awhile. Meantime prepare the paste.

Paste :

Roast the sesame seeds  in a pan. Then set aside.

Follow by roasting the peanut. Take away the skin and put the peanuts and gula melaka into the blender .

Mixed the peanuts, sesame seeds with the butter  and leave it to chill in the fridge for about half an hour.

Syrup :

Boiled the water and when it;s boiling, add in the chrysanthemum flowers  and goji. Boil for about 10 mins. Turn off the fire and lastly add in NuStevia Simple syrup

All done...boil a pot of water. Meantime, pinch a bit of the dough make it into round flat disc. Put a teaspoon of the peanuts filing into the dough and pinch it shut. Make it into round balls and put it into boiling water. Once the "ball" float up, it is cooked. Can be serve with the Chrysanthemum syrup.

But how come mine look like turtle geh? Errrr...coz Mamarazzi experimenting again lor....she saw someone posted in FB making little fishes Thong Yuen . It was so pretty and cute. Can;t find her fish mould so hentam turtle jadinya lo..
