I love Sun Day Out organised by The School in Jaya One. Can play with my scooter with other kids and each weekend they will have various activities (some free some paid) arrange for kids.
But what do Papa and Mamarazzi do while am scooting around? They went exploring lo.....Recently there is one new makan shop opened in Ground Floor at The School. Name....OLD SCHOOL. Funny kinda name right.
Guess, what...their Menu also very "school-ish" leh. Made of exercise book.
Okay...how many of you out there still remembers "Autograph Books" during your Primary and Secondary school year?
Does this brings back memories? Mamarazzi said these "Autograph Books" was very "in" during her school years. It was so much that her secondary school banned students from bringing and/or writing these. Anyone found with this would be punish and the book confiscated.
The Menu. Price not bad la. Around "belasan RM".
Following the old school tradition....the layout of the place is like a school canteen. A portion of the restaurant have tables with long benches and another portion consist of classroom style.
You still remember during old time, school canteen not only sells junk food but also have toys? Well, they have it here.
Wanna play Rubik cube? Long time ago this was very popular. Mamarazzi can never solve the Rubik cube puzzle.
Motor bike toys for RM1.
Okay boys... tell me if you haven;t played these toy soldiers before...Got Parachute...throw up into the air and see it floating down.
And girls....still remember these? Party with the handsome prince..Paper dolls. Some creative girls in Mamarazzi's school even drawn dresses for their paper dolls.
Some cheap munchies...also sow they have Ding Dong and etc.
UNO is famous till today lah...but....
Do you still remember Snap, Old Maid and Happy family?
Papa taught me to play snap while waiting for the food. Not a long wait. Didn't get to finish the game when the food arrived.
There is a book corner too for those who wish to read while waiting for their food.
Why you not wearing your school uniform? Maaf Cikgu....hujan..baju tak kering (sorry teacher, rained. Uniform not dry) ...
The food.....Papa had their Nasi Lemak. Portion may look little but it's mainly due to the huge plate
ahem ahem.....what is that at the top....crunchy lard.
The nasi lemak comes with the chicken rendang....Papa love the taste of the chicken. Surprisingly they were not stingy with the Chicken!
Mamarazzi had their Rice in mixed pork soup. Terkejut her. So much on a bowl. Cannot finish leh. She "insisted" that I share with her.
Papa been reading a lot of review about burger here and there. Seems like every corner of the street have a burger restaurant.
Saw they have it here too. Pakai hentam ordered one burger la to share with me. Err...forgotten the name of the burger or the price.
But the burger certainly loaded with goodies leh....bacon ...ham....and what's that ah.....forgot liao. LOL..The vege in it was fresh and not droopy. Nice to eat.
Mamarazzi had their Ice Lemon tea. Not bad. They did not put a lot of sugar into it which is good .
In the end...Mamarazzi was like a small kid gone back to school. Bought these.
Okay...before you say "waste money"......the money not wasted leh... coz the restaurant will DONATE OUT the money collected from the sales of these toys and cards to Charity like orphanage. If you don't want to buy the toys but still feel like donating, they have donation box at the restaurant.
.
Can;t wait for play with my new toy soldier.
G.I Joe to the rescue!!!!! Errr...actually Mamarazzi was holding the top of the parachute in order to snap this photo ....phone camera not fast enough to snap.
So who wanna go back to OLD SCHOOL? Then heads over to Ground Floor at The School, Jaya One. Next to the Customer Service Counter.
This is a very cool place, and I think the school theme is brilliant. Also the way the menu is made. I loved paper dolls when I was a kid. And in school we also brought autograph books! They are the BEST because when you get older you have all the memories of your friends. I wish I still had mine. Do YOU have one? does Mama or Papa? Have they saved theirs?
ReplyDeleteMamarazzi still have hers. I haven't started mine yet :)
DeleteYa, old school indeed. If a teacher uses a cane these days, the doting over-protective parents would slap them with a lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteLOL.....errr....my school they still have cane leh
DeleteNasi lemak got chu yau char? First time I see leh.. Wah nice leh mama and paparazzi bring you go there.. Can play, can eat, all educational stuff, nice...
ReplyDeleteYuppp....spots on!
Deleteyeah Uncle SK like the "exercise book" menu, and they actually have another one for customers to scribble something?? nice idea.. but Uncle SK don't understand why Mamarazzi wasn't allowed to bring autograph book to school?? nothing's wrong mah..
ReplyDeleteHmm....tarak notice wor...dont think they have.
DeleteCannot coz those time was a craze there....student will curi curi write autorgraph book when teacher is teaching
side track a bit.. last time in high school, we used to distribute papers to classmates or schoolmates to let them write anything on the paper then collect back and finally bind into a book.. like that no need to carry the autograph book everywhere, no need to scare anyone spoilt it, no need to worry someone hold on to it too long and others got no chance to write.. if school doesn't allow, then can use this trick, better still kan?? :)
ReplyDeleteGood idea wor....Mamarazzi time tarak thought about that. Maybe your year have improved on this so that the cikgu wont catch LOL
Deletehehe actually Uncle SK thinks now those retro and old-school deco concept are the in thing lah, and like by many.. this old school canteen theme nice jugak and matches the concept of The School also mah.. like all those knick-knacks they sell over there.. yes Happy Family, tikam, big bag of snacks, paper dolls etc, sure remember and like!!!
ReplyDeleteYa...now adults will wanna escape and go back to school. While schooling , impatience pulak wana go out and work
Deleteeh the food belasan RM is expected lah, now belasan RM also not considered expensive lu, kopitiam food also more than RM5 now.. wah, the nasi lemak looks good, the soup rice so loaded, and the burger also sedap-looking with the caramelized onions (is that what Mamarazzi wanted to say??).. actually not bad woh this place, worth to go again..
ReplyDeletehahaha......sure will go again
DeleteHappy Friday... this really bring back memories....especially I recall my English teacher would said "you may retire to the little corner outside!" .... yes outside the classroom ..hahaha
ReplyDeletesure brings back memories right :)
DeleteOh yes, i do have an autograph book in my school days, hehe...
ReplyDeleteah...you same generation as Mamarazzi
DeleteAll kinds of everything yummy in that burger. Very unusual but looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI remember I bought a pack of UNO cards in Sgp when it first became popular, many years back. Then when I came back to KL, added a brick set of the game. Games in card form are very handy. I also have a set of mahjong on cards. Cool, eh?
uiks...have mahjong cards ah...really handy
DeleteThat Old School reminded me of one Sibu cafe, called "Back to school". I like that report book looking menu.
ReplyDeleteThat burger bun is from charcoal? Cute colour lah.
good concept . Yes charcoal
DeleteI have a few of those autograph books from my school days... ROFL. Sadly, any information within already outdated due to relocations and milestones like marriage and what not.
ReplyDeleteThere's a similar Malaysian primary school-themed cafe in DU called Ecole P.
same here....all address and tel changed.
DeleteGreat memories for me here of when I was a little girl. I loved Crazy 8's, Snap and Old Maid card games, they were so much fun. :)
ReplyDeleteYes...so much fun. Now I just starting to discover
DeleteGreat place! Of course the Autograph book brings our old memories. I used to make autograph books every year, and then it was banned during the school hour. Lol! Thst time, autograph book also can be a threathen thing to the teachers. Compared to children nowadays, they are more li hai. bring smart phone to school.
ReplyDeleteHahaha your school also banned ah....yea coz we tend to be excited and write them during school hours
DeleteThis place ah, you won't appreciate fully one la. Need to be certain age to. :p Like me sure will buy something!
ReplyDeleteThe burger looks really good.
yup...like Mamarazzi la...kekeke....me saja syok syok play snap.
DeleteIts a nice place with great concept especially with donating to the orphanage. I like the pork noodles - yum. yum. Been to Jaya but didn't see this place. Maybe next time must look out, go in and see for myself.
ReplyDeleteoh that is pork rice. looks like noodles right coz timbus by all the stuff
DeleteI like the name of the school and the fact that it delivers on its expectations. On the other hand, I have no idea what autograph books are.
ReplyDeleteAutograph books were a fad over here during mamarazzi;s school days. It's a book where the owner gives to his/her classmates/schoolmates to write their biodata so that they can keep in touch after they graduate. Usually the one who wrote in the book will decorate it and draw something nice in it. Quite creative
DeleteWow the menu is really unique! Its been years since i last use an exercise book, haha!
ReplyDeletehahaha but you'll be touching one soon enough when Aden goes school
DeleteWhat a darling idea...and for charity, too! Love it. My favorite thing was the poster of the teacher scolding the child not wearing the uniform, and it could be you standing there getting scolded. Wonderful idea for everything. I know your son had a great time!
ReplyDeleteRocket Boys book definitely better than the movie, though the movie is still good. Thanks for your comment o0n the book club!
LOL...that's a mural . Put there for ambiance
DeleteSo during the Sun Day Out, you get to play with your scooter indoors?
ReplyDeleteyup....we get to do that coz the roads here got lotsa cars. dangerous
Deletewah ... really old school stuffs! Things that I played during my kiddy time!
ReplyDeleteya wor...same era as Mamarazzi la these things
DeleteYea it was
