Short Getaway - Melaka May 2015

Last weekend went for Big Bad Wolf Books hunting a short getaway . We went to the historical city of Malacca. It was a long weekend leh. Public holiday and replacement holiday from Friday to Monday.

On Saturday noon, last minute decided to go to Malacca. Terrer leh us....didn't make any hotel reservation...straight get into the car and go off.

Heavy traffic . By the time we reached Malacca it was around 2-3pm.

First stop...Tangkak Beef Noodle restaurant. Had a bowl of delicious Tangkak Beef Noodle. Yea yeah...KL also have but but...maybe coz hungry la....felt it taste nicer here.

While waiting for Papa and Mamarazzi surf the net to look for accomodation, I saw people decorating a lorry for the Wesak Day Parade. Interesting,

Wah lau eh...99.9% of the hotels were fully booked but after hunting for lesser priced hotel...managed to get a room in a budget hotel . Not bad la. One night only ma.

Check in. Rested awhile before going food hunting.

First stop....Satay celup.

Wah lau eh.....think the price increased already...now 80 sen for normal sticks. Not bad la. Now price of the raw ingredients, transportation and etc had also increased ma.

Had 6 sticks saja to lepas gian la.The gravy was good.

Mamarazzi thought wanna try Satay Celup Capitol pulak since have not ate there for many year but aborted the mission after she saw people queueing as far as 5-6 shops away.

We proceed to the famous Putu Piring stall in Jalan Tengkera pulak. Wow...though it's only 5pm plus but there were 30 over customers waiting.

Now they very systematic already. Customer take a number and write down how many they wanted and wait for their number to be called.

Mamarazzi like it this way

While waiting...she can't help drooling ate the heavenly scent of the Putu Piring being steamed over high pressure.

Bought a dozen of them and it was certainly worth the wait. Waited for one hour for these.

Next stop. Barkat Roti John at Tanjung Kling. Me blur blur sotong already coz was feeling very very sleepy.

Had a "kerang"(Cockles) eating competition with Papa. I claimed that I won coz I ate the most.

Mee Bandung. Supposed to be for me but it was spicy to taste. So Papa helped me to finish it.

Mamarazzi had Nasi Goreng Kampung. Also Papa "helped" to finish.

Waited for a long time for our Roti John. Finished Kerang, finished Mee Bandung and finished the fried rice.

Checked with the guy.  Dunno what happened. Maybe ours order went to other table or what. Took some time for the investigation to be done.  We decided not to wait la. Tell them to "Tapau" the Roti John instead coz Mamarazzi saw some ladies who came to tapau, got their Roti John first while we were eating. Maybe they phone in to make reservation , I don't know la.

Guess that night was an abnormal rush la. Long weekend and many tourist. Not enough staffs. Think only two persons take order and clean the tables.

Our food and drinks took a long time to arrive. Would suggest the management to consider hiring temporary staffs during peak period so that it won't tarnish the good name of the restaurant. Long time ago, Papa had ate here before and said the food and service was good.

Had Roti John as supper  in the hotel.
