Still remember Mamarazzi blogged about buah peruh earlier?
The ones we bougt was "rebus"(boiled) ones. Mamarazzi saw in Pasar Payang selling some raw ones ...hmm....since the Buah Peruh tasted nice....why not buy some and bring home leh.... So she bought half kg la...RM8/kg.
Come home already...lazy to boil pulak coz the lady said need to boil at least 2hours for it to be soft.
Pakai hentam....throw into oven. Maybe can roast la.
Hmmm....unfortunately thought the shell not that hard but still it did not pop ... Oh well ...how long did she roast them ya.....errr.....Roasted till got "hangus" (burnt) smell lo. Coz search in the internet, no guide noted on how long should she roast them.
What are they? Some kind of nuts or hard fruit? They are big! Do you eat them with a meal or for dessert?
ReplyDeleteIt's a kind of nuts. Something like almond .
DeleteInteresting.. Yes I remember about the buah peruh.. Oohh taste like almond ahh.. From the picture macam taste like chestnut.. Peel all and store in container.. Then ngap one piece in, ngap one piece out, sure addicted !
ReplyDeletelike kacang putih loh when eat in front of tv :)
Deleteinteresting... I like reading that.... a trusty old car is always good.. I prefer a trusty old car to a new car... huhuhu
ReplyDeletecar?
DeleteMy missus bought some once to try. I hear they have to be boiled for a long long long time, contain some toxins or poisons or whatever. Didn't really like them so in the end, threw away most of what she bought.
ReplyDeleteroasted ones taste good leh
DeleteTaste like nuts ?
ReplyDeleteyup :)
Deleteyeah, Uncle SK remembers the buah peruh Mamarazzi blogged about.. that one that taste like chestnut right?? thought Mamarazzi didn't borong, but but but, if nice things not borong then that's not Mamarazzi huh?? hahaha~~
ReplyDeletegot...borong a bit la LOL
Deleteyeah, great idea and very creative (daring also) of Mamarazzi to think of having the buah peruh roasted indeed!! if Uncle SK sure just listen to the one selling and boil it for 2 hours, aiyoh.. actually second thought, boil for 2 hours leh, quite a waste of the gas hor?? hahaha~~ :)
ReplyDeleteya lor...mamarazzi lazy to "watch" the fire leh
DeleteTaste like almonds? Hmm. Our local almond like that.
ReplyDeletehahaha ya...can try making more of these
Deletethat was really experimental.. and luckily everything went well.. but too bad Mamarazzi didn't note down the temperature and the time, else next time she can make a perfect roast again.. so it taste like almond being roasted and chestnuts being boiled?? interesting buah!!! Uncle SK likes~~ :)
ReplyDeletegot but but....like 15 mins xxx temp...then 5 min xxx temp ....so dunno how to write lo
DeleteSomething new to me...
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteNever heard of these till now.. good to test them out.. next time boiled them and see.. then compare which taste better..

ReplyDeleteyes...cempedak, nangka, durian seeds can boil and eaten too
DeleteFound more info about this online but they call it buah perah. Seems like if eaten raw can get mabuk from it but cooked is ok. Since it says taste like berangan then I think I would like it. Where to buy in KL?

DeleteBoil for 2 hours?? Boil soup meh, nyamuk pun tidur lo.. Smart of mamarazzi to roast instead!
ReplyDeleteaiyo....this one same like those berangan la....have to boil long time baru can masak coz it's with shell. if take out shell the "nut" will "melt" la
