Me became Guinea Pig again. Mamarazzi recently saw many blogs featuring Chinese Steam Cakes. Among them was Blog With Yan. She made it seem so simple.
Mamarazzi tried to copy that. The first round, she tried to make Raisin Steam Cake.
Two eggs, a cup of sifted flour, 3 table spoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4 cup of water.
Whipped the eggs till fluff. Added sugar, flour, water and raisin.
Poured into the container and steamed in high heat for half an hour.
Result...failure....cake was not fluffy. Maybe did not beat the eggs long enough.
Third time lucky.
Wow....quite fluffy. Hmmm....still need to reduce a bit more water. Then it should be okay.
Not bad la the taste. The look also presentable. Got to practice some more. Who wanna volunteer to be the Guinea Pig?

Check out Mamarazzi's new post on this book at Mama Kucing Books. Usually she seldom piggy back her books ravings in my blog but this is a really terrific book which she would like to recommend to you. For her, it ranked the same as "Tuesday With Morrie" by Mitch Albom.

ReplyDeleteSo what's the secret?
Dunno how to make that. My cousin makes very good one - savoury, add minced pork...and hay bee.

ReplyDeleteAwesome dear! Glad it turned out well :)
ReplyDeleteJust like you, I have failed in some recipes and agreed that its about practice before the outcome is good. I also realised that some recipes sound so simple but when I give a try, somehow doesn't turn out great.

ReplyDeleteSteamed cake is easy to make wor... Maybe you would like to try this simple, fool-proof recipe http://chloeruoyi.blogspot.com/2012/03/i-baked-cake.html
ReplyDeleteEven Chloe can do it :) Don't have to beat the eggs long and hard, just stir a while with spoon only. I think high heat will make it kedut2 like that. Medium heat will do.
