Thong Yuen Making with NuStevia Simple Syrup

Mamarazzi wasn't planning to make any Thong Yuen last Winter Solstice celebration. But the Papa was hinting about Thong Yuen...even give Mamarazzi newspaper cutting about Thong Yuen that have peanuts filings.

Thong Yuen are Glutinous Rice Balls usually served in sweet syrup. Most frequently, eaten during Winter Solstice Festival.

Wokay la...that morning Mamarazzi followed the recipe lo. It was from The Star Newspaper but now Mamarazzi tried to find the recipe online....it's missing pulak. Again..."agak-agak" recipe syndrome lah:

Fat Man Lok Lok Truck - New Year Celebration.

Time for Mamarazzi to go nuts again. Last year end saw these Chinese arrowhead root(Ngaku) selling very cheap at Tesco. RM1.98/kg. Usually it's nearly RM5/kg leh.

Apalagi....operasi menggoreng lor. Fried nearly 15kg of these. Made into Chips.

Now "expert" already lo. Can straight slice it into the wok.

Only "accident" at the very last piece of "ngaku". No worries....just a free manicure. No blood involved.

The Chips were super oily but lucky we kinda "won" a year supplies of New Scott® Calorie Light Premium Towel ....very useful at times like these.

It sure helped to soak up all the excess oil to make these chips healthier to eat.

Managed to get 3 big containers. Brought one container to a friend's new year house party. The rest distributed . Kept a small container for ourselves.

Now we have a very good idea from friend leh. Inside of cooking half dead for house party, they ordered a truck of Lok Lok  from Fatman Lok Lok instead.

What is Lok Lok? Explanation from Google " variant of the steamboat/hotpot meal, except that the food served is skewered and the skewered food is dipped into a hot boiling pot of water to be cooked. This is then dipped into a variety of sauces provided for you."

They even have a BBQ section where the truck driver and a helper will grill the lok lok for us.

Gosh....we were spoil ofor choice...so many types to choose from

The price of Lok Lok but since friend ordered a whole truck, it was much cheaper. Not sure how much cheaper la.

Caution about ordering the food truck is that you must make sure you have enough people to eat all the Lok Lok coz there are no refund for the uneaten Lok Lok. It's considered sold.

 Plates were provided.

I was really blur one what to choose leh. So many choices. I think what I love the most is the fishballs. I had many sticks of that.

Next time house party, maybe can call this Fatman Lok Lok truck instead la. No need to headache cooking non-stop leh. Mamarazzi can relax and chat with guests instead. With so many choices. There are sure something there for everyone, right?

Papa loves the most is the satay gravy they had there. And I spied Mamarazzi been eating a lot of the BBQ stuffs. Maybe coz they have Roast pork there kot.

Buffet at Kitchen Art Brasserie, Empire Hotel Subang

Been eating a lot in the past month. Two weeks ago went to Kitchen Art Brasserie at Empire Hotel Subang for the buffet. Bought voucher from a discount company. Sort of a birthday cum Christmas cum New Year celebration with a friend.

The place not that big. Kinda Cozy. They had a great outdoor view but Mamarazzi was worried if I run outside. ....later become "superboy" cham liao.

Was looking forward to the buffet lunch so I skipped breakfast. Guess what is the first thing I zoomed in when I arrived at the buffet? Nope....not noodle. Surprise surprise...it was rice. Change of makan habit again.

Mamarazzi pulak opposite of me. She zoomed in the fried noodles. Got her favourite Prawns cook with Sambal Petai(stinky beans).

Next ...dessert......quite a lot of sweet cakes and stuffs like that. Siapa cepat, dia dapat (The ones fastest, got it).

Mamarazzi was slow with her food. Thought eat these sweet dessert later la. Mana tau when she went to look for some around 2pm, all these cute cakes gone already. Only puddings and some "Kuih" were left. Waited but tarak replenish.

Papa said maybe they stopped replenishing after 2pm plus so that the food would not be wasted. No worries leh. If really want, can ask from them. But Mamarazzi paiseh to ask la.

I enjoyed taking bits of everything. Tu lah....I offered Mamarazzi some of mine earlier, she "jual mahal", didn't want. Now habis liao. But okay lah.....she spotted something else.

Yup....dunno where she found this. Banana Splits.....I also want la.Cari Cari cannot find. Asked her....oh .D.I.Y rupanya. They have ice cream there and they also have banana as fruits for the guests. Hence Mamarazzi just took a banana, some ice cream  and made it into Banana Splits loh

Selection of food wise, Mamarazzi said okay la. Not too much and not too little. Taste wise quite good.

Only grouse was that they don't serve Coffee for the buffet. Asked the waiter. Said only have Teh Tarik(Pulled tea) and chrysanthemum drink.

Eat so much...no coffee...sleepy leh... Tummy full liao...best go home and sleep. hehehehe

Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans

Ever heard of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans? Those who are Potterheads will sure know about this. I didn't know what it is till Mamarazzi told me about this boy, Harry Potter. He is the hero in wizarding world and in his school they have these Every Flavour Beans.

A friend had just came back from Japan and surprise surprise......goodies for us. paiseh paiseh...Thank you very much, Manglish.

Among the goodies was a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean.

How colourful they are......sure to taste good, right?

For those who are in the dark, these are not normal Jelly Beans. Like what stated in the box, it's all flavour beans. That mean it does not only consist of sweet and nice tasting beans. There are also jelly beans that taste of vomit, dirt, rotten egg, black pepper, booger, earthworms, earwax, grass, sausage and soap

Got a "guide" here but all written in Japanese .

After one black pepper and ginseng tasting beans, Mamarazzi google and found the English translation. Ohh....the ginseng one actually is "dirt". While the vegetable tasting one is actually "Grass".  Soap ones still bearable la. But the rotten eggs ones are super yucky.

Dare to try one? This could be rotten egg or lemon.....take a guess.

I choose mostly bright colors ones. Those usually are safe....except for orange.....vomit taste........

Mamarazzi wonder if we have it here in Malaysia. Can buy and prank people.... *evil grinz*
