No-Bake Granola Bars from Yee Ling's Blog

Ever since Mommy Ling gave Mamarazzi a taste of the Granola Bars that she made, Mamarazzi had wanted to try making it.

Found Jaya Grocer giving having offer of Organic Rolled Oats. Two packets for RM13 plus only. Cheap.

Came home and try making it. Bits of nuts, dried fruits and seeds...

as instructed...toast the seeds and nuts a bit...Then mix in the dried fruit and the caramised brown sugar, honey and butter.

Put into a flat container and press it....follow by chilling it in the fridge for about half an hour.

Meantime.....I become a bird and pick up all the strayed seed from the bowl and eat lo....mmm...nice.

The end product....Mamarazzi still need to learn how to "cut" the thing properly la...Looks a bit ugly but edible.

One for me...one for Mamarazzi...two for me...one for Mamarazzi..... good ah my Maths.

After that, mamarazzi tried using Almonds to make...i didn't like it coz too hard. Not sweet enough.

Well, here is the recipe...copied and modified from Mommy Ling's Blog

Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chopped pecan nuts
1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup of melon seeds
2 tbs of sesame seeds
1/2 cup dried fruit (cranberries, apricots and raisin)
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
60g butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence(forgotten to add !!!)
pinch salt (omitted)

Method:
1. Toast the oats, seeds and nuts separately in a pan/wok or whatever you are using till fragrant. Separately ah....don't toast together al else will have unsightly black crumbs. Mamarazzi's sesame hangus-ed! Coz it's smaller size than the rest mah. Put aside.

2. Then add butter, honey, brown sugar and salt. Cook until bubbling and then continue to cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla; which Mamarazzi forgot. Pour over oat mixture and stir well until evenly coated.

3. No suitable baking pan so mamarazzi used a Tupperware container. Put baking paper in it and pour the mixture in. She hates to get her fingers sticky so she used the senduk nasi (what do you call that in English ah?) to press the mixture to make it firm.

4. Sumbat into the fridge for 30 mins or in her case till she recall about it. Took the whole thing up from the Tupperware container and cut withe a serrated knife. Haiz....Lesen lembu hence the edges looks so ugly.

Can be store at room temperature but she wrapped each in clinging wrap and stuffed into fridge. Easier to take and eat. Idea from Mommy Ling.

Ahem....as usual.... please hop over to her blog from a proper recipe and method.

Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong at Oldtown Ipoh & Xian Fatt Fruit Stall at Ampang Ipoh

After paying a visit to Wenn, we had a few hours to spend . Papa wanted to drop by Teluk Intan for their Chee Cheong Fun but stall won't be open for another few hours. So we stop by Kedai  Kopi Sin Yoon Loong for an afternoon snack.

Adui......really hard to find leh. Roughly we knew the place but still use GPS. Saw some blogs say it's at Jalan Bandar Timah...some say Jalan Bijih Timah ...some say Jalan Bandar Bijih Timah....Really confusing....end-up pusing pusing then Mamarazzi spotted the shop.

Oh My Kucing! Woi...everyone no need to work ka? week days 3pm plus still need to wait for seat leh. If weekends..........no eyes see.

Papa got his glass of ice cold Ipoh White Coffee.

Beh tahan....he also ordered a plate of the Teluk Intan CCF.

 Two pieces of Chai Kuih...

And two Ang Koo for me. I was grumpy coz I wanted to pay ......dun want Ang Koo

Papa got me a plate of fried noodles. Not bad. Finished that all by myself

 Some kuih ketayap.

Papa said this one is nice but I didn't eat. The taugeh was fresh and crunchy.

After that we made a move to go to Ampang...not Ampang as in KL but Ampang in Ipoh. Heard there are pomelo orchard there and price cheap.

Went to two orchards but the fruits were pricey and small.

Finally settle for Xian Fatt Fruit Stall  at Jalan Ampang Baru 6.  There we borong 5 pomelos. Nah we didn't buy thosebig ones...only those RM5 and RM20 for 3 ones. After all it's not for praying

Am happy here coz I get to use my money to pay for it. The lady boss here was very friendly and nice.

 Eh! is this pomelo?

Errr...Mamarazzi said no. Not sure what fruit is this.

Also stopped along the main road. at Gerai no 40. Bought 4 more pomelo at RM5 each. Hmmm ...actually if ones doesn't plan to borong a lot...it's safe enough to buy pomelo from the fruits stalls along the main roads instead of going to the orchard. Mamarazzi finds that the price is similar to the orchard.

Got home and found some "LOVE" . Strange looking pomelo leaf.

Ming Yue Confectionery and a Surprise Visit to....

How many of you guessed correctly yesterday? yup...next stop was to Ming Yue Confectionery which is located just across the road from Restaurant Tuck Kee.

This was a pleasant surprise for Mamarazzi as she had wanted to try out the biscuits and stuffs from Ming Yue since it was highlighted in several blogs. It seems that the price of goods here are cheaper than most place.

There were not many people in the shop as we went in.

Business must have been very good as this man kept grinding peanuts or was it groundnuts . Yup...the place it's famous for its fresh "Biskut kacang".

Oh my kucing!!! as we went in....a bus load of tourist arrived. Adoi...the place become so "kecoh". Darn it...can't the queue up? One auntie even have the nerve to ask the girl "can you give me first ah.". Lucky the girl said I come first. Hmm....maybe coz I "chatted" her up before that la. No jumping queue, ok.

Me so happy coz I got to use my own money to buy the biscuit. Ah mah gave me RM100 that morning.

Next stop.......a surprise visit to Auntie Wenn

Not long ago, in SK blog there was a discussion whether bloggers can recognise each there if meet face to face.

Mamarazzi was naughty. She pretended to be customer and try to test Auntie Wenn. Fuiyoh....Auntie Wenn have a very sharp eyes. Without a blink she straightaway can recognise Mamarazzi and me.

It was nice meeting Auntie Wenn. Really paiseh that she gave us so many things ...she even gave me a Father's Day Pressie to give to Papa! Thank you very much Wenn

And thank you very much to Auntie Claire and Auntie Elin for the goodies from Ming Yue. These "Biskut kacang" was fresh from the oven. Still warm when they pack it leh. Saw people were ordering many packets of these.

Mamarazzi loves the wedding biscuits. Very fresh and it was not that sweet. Just nice. Taste a bit like the wedding biscuit from another famous confectionery shop in KL but much cheaper.

The tambun biscuits also cheap. Some are RM2.50 for half a dozen while those premium ones that have egg yolk and Meat/chicken floss cost 70sens a piece.

All these biscuit really taste better. Maybe because it's fresh.

Me too like to eat the wedding biscuits. I love the Red Bean paste ones the most. Same like Mamarazzi.

Here is the address of the shop. ; -

Restaurant Tuck Kee at Pasir Pinji Ipoh

Alo...got miss me or not? Mamarazzi "ponteng" blogging for two weeks already leh. During these two weeks I "kena" grill like grill chicken or rather grill kucing by Papa and Mamarazzi. Coz my Cikgu says need to work more on my Mandarin as I am clever but lazy....Hmm..I wonder where I get the lazy gene from ah.....

Anyway, last Wednesday tired liao. After sending Ah Kong and Ah Mah off, we had an impetuous trip.....Papa said where? I said playground. Mamarazzi said too hot. She said Cameron? Papa said "You drive".

Ding ! Dong ! Ding ! Dong! ...okay....go cari makan la. Which place have the best makan...of course la Ipoh.

Think of Ipoh....of course la think of Auntie Claire... the Dai Kar Jie in cari makan ...

"Kidnapped" Auntie Claire and Auntie Elin from their work place. They were surprised that we have never at Big Tree....Off we went to Big Tree but too bad, it was not open.

So we walk to the restaurant nearby. Restaurant Tuck Kee.

It's famous for their roast meat. Mamarazzi was surprised to see long queue outside the restaurant. So many people "Tapau" roast meat from there.

Being there, of course la we ordered Roast Meat

Portion big leh for RM30. I love the Roast pork best. I think I ate the most roast pork among the 5 of us.

Mamarazzi loves the Green Dragon Vegetable. She wonders what is the crispy fish they added as topping. Looks like salted fish or fried anchovies but.....it was yummy

This one I will have to adopt the word "No, thank you". I don't like spicy stuffs.....but the adults seems to love it.

Jom "sik taufu"(Eat Taufu). Beancurd made of spinach and eggs with Mushrooms topping. I love this and so does Mamarazzi. It was very smooth and taste great .

Steamed Chicken.....a bit pricey at RM23 but the meat was nice and firm. Not tough at all. Goes well with the ginger dipping. .

I saw Auntie Claire and Mamarazzi take photos I also wanna take photo la.....snap snap here and there. Turns out not bad leh...even my "selfie" also turns out nice.

Restaurant Tuck Kee is located at  :

Teacher's day Food : Stained Glass Cookies

Mamarazzi have been debating whether to make the Water Chestnut Thong Sui for Teacher's Day Celebration or not coz it's cumbersome to bring be it in container or pot.

After reading all the pro and cons comments, Mamarazzi decided, aiyah no need to bring food to school la for Teacher's day Celebration. Just give Teacher's Day Gifts enough la.

After all, she saw that previous years not many bring food too. All buy junk food in bulk and give to teacher; which Cikgu made into party packs for us to bring home.

But then on Friday, Cikgu again remind us to bring our favourite food to share. I fret a bit also la since I scare Cikgu will scold me if I didn't bring any food to share.

Think think think....Saturday morning Mamarazzi woke up early and decided to go for a second attempt of the Stain Glass Cookies which was featured in Sonia of Nasi Lemak Lover blog

There were some leftover candies from the first attempt the week before.

In the first attempt, we've  got "Bubbles cookies"  instead of lovely Stained Glass cookies.

Puzzling.....why bubble punya eh....Mamarazzi must have opps-ed somewhere again.

 Let me taste first...

 Hmmm...It's soft and it's hard...

Funny cookies....I like the biscuit part but I don't like the hard middle part.

Mamarazzi said I am the funny one...not the cookies. Usually kids would love candies mah but me pulak opposite. Doesn't like the candy part of the cookies.

Papa suggested maybe the candy not supposed to be "cooked" . Just need to melt it.

Bearing this in mind, Mamarazzi made these beauties last Saturday.

 Yup! quite perfect.

Compared to the week before, this batch was a success. Mamarazzi baked the biscuits for 15 minutes then put the candy in the middle of the star. Set the oven for 3 minutes. She kept peeking ...once saw the candy melted, she took it out quickly.

See so much different between the two .

Mamarazzi modified (yea yea yea what else is new) the recipe a bit coz she didn't have cake flour.

She used :-

50g salted butter
(*reminder to Mamarazzi -BUY BETTER brand of butter. Cheepo brand Papa said got weird smell)
40g icing sugar
juice from 1 slice of lemon(She was lazy to measure )
100g self rising flour
1 tsp of corn flour
FOX Candy ...each piece cut half.

Method
1. Beat butter, icing sugar and lemon juice till fluffy.
2. Sift both flour into the mixture and fold it.
3. Place the dough onto baking sheet. Use rolling pin to roll it till thin about 4mm. Put into freezer while she clean up the used utensils. About 10minutes gua...
4. Took out from freezer and start cut with cookies cutter, The center she used knife to cut. Kinda hard coz have to work fast. Kept have to freeze the dough as it kept bully Mamarazzi. Each 6 cookies...freeze.
5. Preheat the oven to 160C . Bake for 15minutes. Took out and put the candy into the center and bake for another 3minutes or till the candy melted. Once melted , take out before bubbles formed.

She managed to make 26 cookies out of this. And surprisingly my friends sapu finish. Mamarazzi thought they would be like me..may not like to eat the hard center.

I saw Mamarazzi snapping photos I also wanna snap photos la. These  "extra" stars are from the extra dough. Mamarazzi said made 26 enough la.

By the way, heard friends said these stars originated from a TVB drama wor. Mamarazzi also don't know coz she doesn't watch Astro. Ask her about books she knows la.

Errr ....as usual..... for the proper recipe, please visit Sonia Nasi Lemak Lover Blog. That one guarantee won't go "Holland".
