Sweeter Than Birdsong By Rosslyn Elliott

Book Description by Booksneeze

Music offers Kate sweet refuge from her troubles…but real freedom is sweeter.
In Westerville, Ohio, 1855, Kate Winter’s dreams are almost within reach. As the first woman to graduate from Otterbein College, she’ll be guaranteed her deepest wish: escape from the dark secret haunting her family. But with her mother determined to marry her off to a wealthy man, Kate must face reality. She has to run. Now. And she has the perfect plan. Join the upcoming musical performance--and use it to mask her flight.
Ben Hanby, Otterbein College’s musical genius, sees Kate Winter as an enigmatic creature, notable for her beauty, yet painfully shy. Then he hears her sing—and the glory of her voice moves him as never before. He determines to cast her in his musical and uncover the mystery that is Kate. Still, he must keep his own secret to himself. Not even this intriguing woman can know that his passionate faith is driving him to aid fugitives on the Underground Railroad.
A terrifying accident brings Kate and Ben together, but threatens to shatter both their secrets and their dreams. Kate can no longer deny the need to find her courage—and her voice—if she is to sing a new song for their future.
Sweeter than Birdsong is a stirring novel of hope and faith inspired by real historical people and events.

My Comments :
Love is in the air. Yup! February is just around the corner and this is just THE book to fills the air with romance.  Don't blame me as I am really partial towards historical romance. They are just so refined.
This book is no exception. I love the way the author tease the readers and let the readers' imagination runs with her hints here about Ben and Kate.
However, this book is much more than your typical romance. It incorporated some issue that is pretty interesting such as slavery.
It was really easy to bond with the characters. The book is full of excitement and very moving.
I won't the ending for you but I think it is safe to say that by the end of the story, you can't help to thinking that this might have been an actual history instead of fiction. It is because the story was pretty vivid.
For me, this book rated 4 stars out of 5 stars

The Year of THe Dragon - Am Back!!!

Hi! Am back! Muhahaha! Gong Xi Fatt Chai again.

This round had a relaxing trip. Mamarazzi said saved RM60. Can go "serang" BookXcess or maybe go "makan-makan".

Here are a bit of teaser. It's a bubbly year for me!

A "sexy" year for me too. People say this year is "Water Dragon" year mah...so have to play more water la..

But hor...on our way back home...we were "chased" by the rain. Some who are superstitious would say good omen as "water" is consider as money. MONEY COME!!!.

Reached home in the nick of time. Papa parked the car. Got all the perishable goods out and it rained SUPER heavy.

Anyway, that's all for now. More post later on when Mamarazzi sort out the photographs.

The Children's Life of Christ-The End of The Story / The End of Rabbit Year

Today we came to the end of the story for The Children Life of Christ by ENid Blyton.Mamarazzi started telling story from this book back in January 2011.

A year had passed. Time flies. Just like time fly for Jesus. He remained on earth for forty days visiting his friends and disciples. Cheering them up as he knows they missed him a lot. He told them that they must spread the good news to everyone and help those who are weak. It is now for them to teach people of the things that Jesus had taught them. These were the very first Christian.

Then comes a time where nobody saw Jesus anymore. Nevertheless, it was not a case of out of sight, out of mind. They know that Jesus is with them in their heart and mind and that He is looking out for them in Heaven.

And Enid Byton ended the story with the commendment that he kept all the days of his ife "LOVE ONE ANOTHER". A very easy sentence to say and to write but it is very hard to keep especially when faced with treachery and evilness all around.

Anyway, today is the end of another thing. End of Rabbit year in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

Tonight, most family that are celebrating Chinese New Year will gather around and have Reunion Dinner.

Tomorrow will be the first day of Chinese New Year and thus begin the year of the Dragon.

Kee Kee Bentong Chicken Rice at Yat Yeh Hing Restaurant, Kelana Jaya

Guess, by tomorrow I'll be passing Bentong. I wonder if Papa will stop Bentong to have Chicken Rice there or not. But most probably being Chinese New Year Eve, the shop won't be open at all.

Anyway, we had real nice Chicken Rice at Yat Yeh Hing Restaurant in Kelana Jaya not long ago.

I ate till I was truly stuffed.

Mamarazzi love the free flow of soup there. Each day it will be different kind of soup. Really delicious. Just like home cooked.

 The famous Steamed Chicken.

 Mmm...super yummy.

Additional dish. Roast Pork and BBQ Pork. RM12.

Fat fat taugeh. Mamarazzi likes this a lot.

Here is the address No 33, Jalan SS4D/2, People's Park, 47301 Petaling Jaya Selangor.

Honkee Porridge at Damansara Uptown.

Being sick, reminds me of porridge. When I was a baby, I ate a lot of porridge. Now am scared of porridge already.

In November, I was not well but we had to go out to do something. Hence Mamarazzi didn't have time to cook porridge for me.

That was how we end up at Honkee Porridge Restaurant at Damansara Uptown. Hmmm...got a large variety of porridge.

Papa and I like to have porridge with this "Yau Char Gwai" direct translation from Cantonese is "Oil Fried Ghost" . Fried Curlers.
Nice to eat when dip into the porridge. Mamarazzi shared a bowl of Shredded Chicken Meat porridge with me.

While Papa had Claypot Kung Poh Frog Porridge with dried chili Porridge.

To cool down my body, I had coconut water. Mamarazzi had the Jasmine Tea with Ice. Cooling.

Mamarazzi also had their ABC soup. Says the soup tasted so-so only. Guess, they have different way of cooking this soup as compared to what Mamarazzi used to have.

Overall, it was comfy dining here as compared to the stall at Petaling Street. Maybe the cozy and comfortable environment makes the porridge here taste nicer than when she had at their Main stall at Petaling Street.

Here is the address should you wish to pay this restaurant a visit:-

Baci Italian Cafe at Citta Mall.

Hmm.. flu flu not nice one. Can't eat Ice Cream.

I missed the Ice Cream from Baci.

Papa brought me to Citta Mall and bought me a large bowl of Ice Cream the other time.

I still remember. It was Vanilla Ice Cream.

My favourite.

 Mamarazzi had Cappuccino.

Papa had Ice Blended something. After I finished my Ice-Cream, I walloped, Papa's drink.

Hmm...just wait la. When I am well again, I will surely ask Papa to bring me to Baci again. It's located at Lot G47, Ground Floor, Citta Mall, No 1 Jalan PJU 1A/48, Ara Damansara, 47301 Petaling Jaya.
