Hotel Aston Belitung and Fun at Tj Kelayang Beach, Belitung Island, Indonesia

That evening after dinner, we check-in to Hotel Aston in Belitung. It was very grand and new. In fact it was so new that that it haven't had its official opening ceremony yet.

There were Welcome drinks near the reception . I took some drinks for my new friends while Papa and Mamarazzi do the check-in procedure.

That was when something gone wrong. They tried to charge Mamarazi's card twice but it seems that their line was not working. It was offline and asked us to pay cash. Papa said they can do offline transaction, right?  The staff at the reception did not know how to perform offline transaction and said he will just take down the detail and will do the transaction when the line is up again.

Got another headache when she came back to Malaysia and found the bank had text her saying that there have been two transaction recorded in her account.

It's really weird...the toilet at the lobby is already so tiny and they put a big trash bin in it. How la people wanna move ...can't even sit at the throne leh.

Mamarazzi end up pushing the trash bin out of the toilet in order to close the door.

Arriving our room, sound that the wall outside was not finished properly yet.

Mamarazzi had to asked Papa help to get the hand held shower head from up there. Why put it so high?

She was surprised to find two bottles of complimentary bottles of drinking water in the bathroom instead of the mini bar.

Well...guess all these are just teething problems of a very new hotel lah. Mamarazzi had wrote in and highlighted it in their main website as the website of Aston Hotel Belitung was not up then that time. Hopefully the Management will take note. Guess no news is good news?

But over all the room was comfortable and spacious. It  was overlooking the infinity pool and the sea. Thus, if we open the balcony door, the place would be windy. Nice.

Got up very early the next morning.

I was waiting for my new friends to visit. Wanna play with them in the infinity pool. Hmmm...now seems infinity Pool is the "in" thing.

During breakfast, saw many visitor went and have a look at the Infinity Pool

Where are they? Why so late?

yay! They are here. I had fun having breakfast by the pool and playing with my friends.

After that we went to visit Uncle Anton's home. Supposed to to have lunch there but since it was such a nice day,  he said why not go for a picnic lunch at the beach?

Off we went to the beach. This round we went to Tanjung Kelayang beach. Gosh....what a lovely beach. The view was great and the water...wow!!!

Uncle Anton's wife certainly had out done herself. So many dishes, Grilled fish, gulai, squid , vegetable and even crabs!! so big and juicy crabs!

So many dishes till I don't know where to start.

The place was really like a scene out of the movie la. Gosh....I can play all day here.

Adoi...Mamarazzi forgotten to bring anti mozzie cream for me. While I was eating, those insect feeding on me pulak. But being me, i don't feel itchy at all...at least not when I was busy playing la. One week after coming home baru I start to feel itchy la.

Mamarazzi asked me if I wanna go to the beach again...of course YES!. I didn't have enough time at the beach leh. Coz very soon the adults said it's evening already. Want to go see sunset at another side of the island pulak......

Kedai Pojok, Belitung Island indonesia

Wah.... this Uncle Anton and his family really thought we are big eaters ah?

Mak oi! Ordered soooooooo many dishes.

Fried prawns

Grilled fishes.

Gulai Fish.

A different style of grilled fish. Funny here there use these big leaves to "alas" the fish while we used Banana leaf back home.

Fried Squid.

Some fried vegetables.

All these seafood were delicious as they are fresh from the sea. So much...can't finish...had to tapau back.  Price wise not sure as Uncle Anton refused to say.

I had fun coz we had a "kids corner" where I got to eat Malay style.

Dunno why....I  kept wanna carry Uncle Anton's youngest daughter. She is so cute.

Kopi-Kat Hup Tou Sou Cookies

Last Thursday Mamarazzi saw Sonia's Nasi Lemak Blog in which she baked "Hup Tou Sou Cookies" . It's one of Mamarazzi favourite cookies.

All along she thought it's hard to make but from Sonia's recipe, it seems super easy.

Off she went and got the ingredients and started baking. It's easy. Just dump everything into the bowl and mixed it.

She remembers that Sonia mentioned about putting walnut. First attempt, she blended the walnut but it was too fine. She decided to pound the walnut instead.

Kiasulism ...

End result...argh....all the cookies "huat ah" and stuck together.

Taste wise, it's still yummy.

Second batch looks much presentable. But Mamarazzi was still not satisfied as Papa didn't like it. Said got "chemical" taste. Could be the oil that Mamarazzi use not peanut oil or maybe the taste of the alkaline water or the baking powder.

Third batch Mamarazzi added Cocoa Powder and Cinnamon powder.

Gave a few "white mice" to try and they said tasted good . Of the two they preferred the original taste instead of Cocoa taste and the Cocoa tasted "common"....like Chocolate biscuits.

And the baking marathon went on...baked some pineapples tarts too.

Gosh this month's electricity bill gonna shoot up high lor...But then maybe can save some money la as Kangkung price had reduced .

Our vegetable garden seems to be growing fine. Got some kangkung, sweet potatoes leaves, ginger, Pegaga and even the pumpkin plant is flowering.

Want the recipe? Here it is :-

Ingredients :

250 g plain flour
50g of pounded walnut
1 tsp of Cocoa powder(for the cocoa biscuits)
1 tsp of Cinnamon powder(for the cocoa biscuits)
1/2tsp baking powder
80g sugar(original recipe calls for 125g sugar)
1/2 tsp alkaline water(Air Abu/ 碱水)
1/2 tsp fine salt(Mamarazzi omitted this in the second batch of biscuits as she finds that the taste from the butter if salty enough)
20g salted butter
150g cooking oil or peanut oil
1 egg yolk(for glazing)

Method :

- shift and mix all the dry ingredient together. Rubber the butter to the flour. Then slowly add the oil till it forms a soft dough.

- make the dough into 50sen coin size balls  and and use a bottle cap to press the center of each cookies

- Glaze the cookies with the egg yolk and bake in the oven 170C for about 25 minutes.

*recipe adapted from Sonia's blog. For the perfect  Hup Tou Sou Cookies and better understanding, I think you better head over to Sonia's post on Hup Tou Sou Cookies ( 没有核桃的合桃酥)~~欢喜过马年. You know Mamarazzi's lesen lembu  baking lah...tarak guarantee cantik and sedap .

From Jakarta to Belitung Island, Indonesia

Our trip to Indonesia was free and easy. After Papa's meeting there was nothing much planned so the next few days we were free.

Where to go ah? Jakarta was very crowded . Then Papa's friend got to know that we were in Indonesia and he invited us to visit his place in Belitung Island. He helped us with the flight arrangement.

That morning, off I went for a morning swim before check-in out from the hotel.

Breakfast by the pool.

This hotel certainly catered for health conscious people. They have a Healthy Corner. Papa loves the fresh fruit juices there.

There were plenty of local fruits there too. Buah Salak (Snake skin fruit) Passion Fruit and the golden oranges.

Over here we have Teo Chew porridge where we put salted fish, salted eggs and the condiments but over there it was certainly more lavish.

There was a separate chicken broth to be poured into the plain porridge. Then they have like 10-12 types of condiments for people to add.

I had some....hmmm....Papa seems to like it. Taste certainly different from what we have here

Noon, we check-out from the early. Kinda worry about the traffic jam. But we got to the airport with plenty of time to spare.

While waiting had a Vitamin C boost. I love their Vitamin C drinks there.

Mamarazzi was hungry so we had a pricey soup tulang. Taste okay la. Portion was big. She can't finish it so Papa ordered another plate of rice and helped her to finish the balance of the soup.

Pretty soon our flight was called. Bye bye Jakarta. Wow...a city full of houses.

And it seems like a blink of an eye, we were going to land on Belitung Island. Such vast difference landscape between Jakarta and Belitung Island.

I didn't even get to eat the bun and drink that the airlines gives. Yup... this round I doze off as soon as my bum bum hit the seat.

Certainly a BIG warm welcome from Uncle Anton and the clan at the airport. Our luggage were whisked away by his pals for safe storage while off we went for fun by the seaside.

If not mistaken this is Tg Pendam Beach. Uncle Anton rented a "boat" and I get to have my very first "boating" experience here.

Wee!!! It was fun!

Such lovely sunset view. Uncle Anton said this many people come to this beach to take Pre-wedding photos.

Gosh...the view here was amazing. Beach was very clean with fine sands.

manyak syok leh

I had a wonderful time playing with my new friends, Uncle Anton's daughters.

Pretty soon it's time to makan. Off we went for a feast at a stall by the beach
