Super Brands Essence Steamed Chicken

Not long ago, we went to Ipoh and had Chicken Essence steamed Frog. Papa love the "gravy/soup" very much.

This got Mamarazzi to thinking. Why not make own Chicken Essence Steamed Chicken

She went to the market to buy half a Kampung Chicken.

Came home, dug out some ginger and some Goji(Gei Zhi)

Put everything together in a plate and a pinch of salt. Put into the Wok to steam.

Got ready a bottle of Chicken Essence.

 The cooked Chicken

Pour in the Chicken Essence. Why not steam together with the Chicken Essence? Errrr...don't know. Coz that was how Mamarazzi saw the shop did it so she just "copied".

Result, the "gravy/soup" tasted terrific but not the chicken. The meat was tough. Later she read somewhere that Kampung Chicken is not the best chicken for steaming. Best is to use "Chow Dei Kai" .

As for me, I became full of energy after having the gravy with my rice. Wanna try?

Dinner at Mei Six Hin Restaurant

We stop by Mei Six Hin Restaurant for dinner after coming back from Ah Mah's house.

We went to the restaurant 3 times and twice already we saw this lady selling pens along the road. Approached each car to sell pen.

You can say that she is earning an honest living as she is selling something and not begging. But another way of thinking is that if buying the pens from her, it might encourage more people doing the same along the road.

Papa said in Indonesia there are many vendors like this. Going from car to car selling stuffs. There are some dishonest ones who when we give big note, they would pretend to search for changes and delay till the traffic light changes to green and the car owner is forced to "move" without getting his/her change. If it is not mistaken, this type of business is illegal in Indonesia.

Playing with my "Baby computer" while waiting for our food to be served.

 Sharkfin Fried egg.

According to Papa, put the eggs in salad leaves and roll it up and eat.

Crunchy but Mamarazzi said the eggs were a bit too oily for her.

Taufu with Salted Vegetable. Mmmm...Mamarazzi loved this very much. Super yummy to her.

Fish slices with Spring Onions. Portion was quite big despite we asked for small portion.

Mamarazzi's conclusion the food here suit her taste. Not bad. will wanna come again to try out their other dishes,

Mamarazzi's Lazy Chicken Rice Again

MMmm.....Lately Am crazy about "yellow Rice" . It's my code for Chicken Rice. Got bored with having White Rice.

Mamarazzi said as I eat only the "yellow rice" and I don't like to eat Chicken, it's a waste to "tapau" Chiken Rice for me. Hence, again she D.I.Y. simple "yellow rice" for me.

Washed the rice. Throw it into the rice cooker. Add in some pieces of Chicken. Slices of ginger. A few Pandan leaves. Some planta and a pinch of salt. Press "COOK".

15minutes later...Jeng! Jeng! Lazy bum Chicken Rice.

Mmmm ...satisfied. Had two plate of rice.

Restaurant 有骨气 Bone & Pot Steamboat at Kuchai Entreprenuer's Park.

Sorry again. This is another basi(stale) post. Happen two months ago.

I went to look for Auntie Florence. She was on leave that day and it was near dinner time, so we had dinner with Auntie Florence lor. It was raining. Everywhere, traffic were slow. Hence we decided to eat somewhere nearby.

Google and found some blogs recommended this Bone & Pot Steamboat Restaurant. Just nice for a rainy day.

Brrr......it was rather cold as it was air-conditioned.

But luckily I have a warm sweater that Papa bought for me.

Plus a pot of warm Chinese Tea, I felt comfortable.

what is this "pump" for ah?

 Wow....6 types of dipping.

Mamarazzi like the most is the fried garlic.

We ordered portion for three persons (RM19.80/person).

Very dainty

Not like most standard steamboat ingredient.

as usual the set comes with noodles and eggs

They have 5 types of broth and do take note that the broth is charged separately. Unlike others steamboat restaurants, here the broth is not included in the steamboat set.

We opt for Mixed Broth(RM13)- Signature Pork Bone Broth and Pepper Pork Broth. In the broth there was really big pork bone in it

and quite a lot of pig stomach in the Pepper Pork Broth.

We ordered ala-carte Udon (RM3-80)

Sea Urchin Ball (RM8-80) Expensive but delicious to our taste.

Water Crest (RM4-90). The Leaves a bit bitter.

Button Mushroom (RM5-80)

Needle Mushroom(RM5-80)

Beancurd Puff with Pork (RM6-90). Personally, Mamarazzi prefered the Beancurd Puff that Mommy Ling's mom made.

Golden Beancurd (RM5-80)

Papa and Auntie Florence loves this beancurd very much. It's crunchy outside and was soft like Tauhu Fa inside.

Home Made Sotong Mee (RM9-90) highly recommended by some blogs.

Just squeeze and the "mee" will form. I did not like it  much. Preferred the real noodle.

Salted and Pepper Fried Sotong (RM8-80)

The steamboat was a bit pricey in Mamarazzi's opinion but she loves the broth very much. She loved it so much that she brought a friend to have dinner here again the next week. However, sad to say we did not stay as that particular day, there was an unpleasant smell in the shop. Probably detergent to wash the floor too strong or something.

Mamarazzi was determine to let her friend have a go of the delicious broth hence we changed venue to have the steamboat at their Kelana Jaya Branch. Service there were very good . Only down side is that the branch does not have "Personal Steamboat Seat". All ingredient have to be ordered separately. Quite pricey. Nevertheless, we did enjoy the food there very much.

Will probably go to the Kuchai Branch again when Uncle Patrick comes back. Hopefully no unpleasant smell then.

Here is the address should you wish to have a try of the delicious steamboat.

Petai Jeruk (PIckled "Stinky Beans") Recipe

Selamat Hari Raya  Aidilfitri to all my Muslim readers. For those who "balik kampung", have a safe journey .

Ah Mah gave us a large plastic bag of Petai .

As Mamarazzi peeled the Petai, she was surprised to see there are some that were abnormally big. See! It's bigger than Mamarazzi's thumb.

Mamarazzi posted about it in her Facebook and surprisingly, one of her schoolmate suggested to make "Petai Jeruk".

Uiks!? What is Petai Jeruk? Mamarazzi never heard of that before. Asked her Classmate for Recipe hand here is what he said.

"Cut the papan petai into sizes that fits the pot... Normally into 3 pieces... If you wanna trim the hard side of the "papan" oso can.. Boil it until it turns darker... Drain it and picit(squeeze) the papan until the petai comes out... After this you can either soak with salted water semalaman(overnight) or just clean it up and store it inside a jar with salt water and asam keping (optional)... If you want to soak it semalaman, rinse thoroughly and store it as mentioned before... Best eaten after a day or two...."

Opps....Since Mamarazzi had already peeled the Petai, she just simply hentam and boiled the petai for about 10 minutes. Just tried with just a hand full as she was not sure if she would like the taste of Petai Jeruk.

Meantime, she put two piece of Sour Slices/ Sliced Tamarind/ Tamarind into a clean jar and a teaspoon of salt. Fill the jar with warm water to dissolve the salt.

Put the boiled Petai into the jar and waited 4 to 5 days before eating it.

After 5 days, the Petai turned yellowish green

Ate with rice. MMmm.....taste sourish and a bit salty. Very appetising according to her. She had rice with pickled Petai and Acar.

Bought this "Acar" from the night market. Suit her taste very much. The vegetables were crunchy and not too spicy. The lady added a lot of sesame seed and  crushed peanuts into the Acar.

The lady have a stall at SS2 night Market(Monday) near the hawker Centre, Chow Yang Pasar Malam(Thurdays) near the playground and Paramount Pasar Malam (Sunday)

She asked me to try one Petai. No way!

I don't like the Stinky Petai

Nope....not me. Don't want. You can have all of it.
