Putu Piring at Jalan Tengkera, Malacca

You would have thought after the huge dinner at Umbai, Papa would have wanted to curl up and become oink oink already, right?

Nope..he didn't. In fact he brought us go searching for the famous Putu Piring at Jalan Tengkera.

Most blog didn't not post up the address of the shop. But we finally found it. The address is No. 252, Jalan Tengkera, Melaka. And the GPS coordinates from a blog is 2°12'3"N 102° 14'21"E.

Asked the Boss permission to snap some photos. He said we are welcomed to do so as many people have done it.

Wow...they really work very fast.

Apart from Putu Piring, they also sells Gula Melaka (RM4 a pack of 3), Homemade Pandan Kaya at RM3-20 each and Nyonya Curry Powder at RM4 per container.

The first round, we bought 5 pieces of Putu Piring to try. RM0-90 per piece. Not really expensive considering the size.

Tasted very good. The Gula Melaka was just nice. Not too sweet. The coconut at the bottom of the putu piring and the Banana Leaf fills our car with nice aroma.

We finished that in a jiffy. Mamarazzi got out of the car and bought another 5 more pieces for supper.

The next day we went to tapau some more before returning home.

Mamarazzi also bought the Nyonya Curry Powder as "hand letter" for "someone". A big HINT HINT to "someone" ahem ahem CURRY CHICKEN please.

She also bought some Homemade Pandan Kaya. Opppss....she had forgotten to snap a photo of it. She ate it with bread and said that it tasted very good. Very strong Pandan aroma once she opened the container of Kaya.

Auntie Florence bought a few packets of Gula Melaka. Not sure whether it's god or not but she seems t be very happy with the purchase.

Yes, definitely will go and get some more putu piring if we go to Malacca again.

I Survived The Big Bad Wolf Aftermath Sale!

Yesterday morning Mamarazzi kicked me and Papa wake up super early. 8a.m already out of the house coz wanna go for the BIG BAD WOLF AFTERMATH SALE.

But before that we went for a slight detour to pick up these

And these from Mommy Ling. So nice of her to bring us goodies all the way from Taipei. Thank you very much, Mommy Ling .

After that we went to pick up AUntie Florence and we had breakfast together. But that's another story.

By the time we arrived at South City Plaza, the sale had begun. Saw a long queue of people trying their luck to get Year 2012 Preview Passes. Mamarazzi didn't try coz sure won't get punya. Too many people in front already.

Hence we went straight in.

Fuiyo...there are still a lot of books there. Although in the BBWS FB says the condition of the books not that good, but Mamarazzi was surprised to see most of the books in the fiction and non fiction section were still good.

As for the Children section need to be careful a bit la. But then since it's only RM5 and below, Mamarazzi just simply tembak and grabbed lo.

Here are some of the books that Mamarazzi and Auntie Florence saw in the sale and some of the books they managed to grab for me and themselves.

If you are interested to go, here is the address : South City Plaza, Lot G-29 (20 Ground Floor), South City Plaza, Persiaran Serdang Perdana, Seri Kembangan. The sale will be on until 28th of this month.

Caution/Note :

1) if possible, do avoid bring small kids to the sale as it's expected to be very crowded.
2) expect long queue for payment during peak hours and avoid going at peak hours if possible.
3) Do not cut queue when paying

Ikan Bakar Parameswara at Medan Ikan Bakar Pernu-Umbai, Malacca

We set out for dinner around 6pm. Mamarazzi suggested that we try out the famous Ikan Bakar(Grilled Fish) in Malacca. Papa said the famous one is in Umbai. Off we went looking for Ikan Bakar.

After a few wrong turns, we arrived at this place. Ya, Mamarazzi is terrible at following GPS map.

As we entered the parking area, the Parking Attendant gave us a brochure featuring Grill Fish from the Parameswara Grill Fish Restaurant.

We decided to have our dinner here as the restaurant seems to have the most customers and the most scenic view.

First we had to go to the Counter to choose our seafood and method of cooking.

As Papa, Uncle Patrick and Auntie Florence were choosing the seafood, Mamarazzi and me went to look for a table.

There were places set in a boat just like the choo choo train at Victoria Station. However, we opt for the table by the water front. Very scenic view.

At first I was reluctant to pose for photos. I wanted to look at the view and the crabs and sea creature below.

As we were waiting for our food, Papa and Uncle Patrick had the prepacked Nasi Lemak. Both of them agrees that its one of the best prepacked Nasi Lemak that they have had.

After a short while, our food arrived.

This is Sotong Goreng Kunyit (Tumeric Fried Squid). It was delicious. The Sotong was very fresh.

Kangkong Belacan (Water Spinach Fried with Cili and shrimp paste). Yumm...the Kangkong was very young.

Kepah Masak Halia(Mussel cooked with Ginger). The mussel were very fresh.

However, Mamarazzi feels that they have put a tad too much pepper in this dish. If it's cooks solely with Ginger it would have been good enough.

To quench our thirst and to chase away the heatiness, Papa ordered a jug of Coconut water. It was good and pretty soon we found ourselves ordering another jug.

Fried Fish in sweet and sour sauce. Again Mamarazzi likes the fish as it was fresh. The meat was sweet and juice. However, she was not keen on the cooking style.

This one is Auntie Florence's favourite. Grilled Terubok fish. Everyone loved it except for Mamarazzi and me coz the fish have a lot of bones.

One of the bones poked my palate.

It seems like eternity before Mamarazzi's order of fried rice arrived. Maybe they have forgotten the order till Uncle Patrick reminded them.

Naughty me...I went and dug out all the fried anchovies and ate them. I love fried anchovies.

Mamarazzi didn't finish the fried rice as it tasted a bit bland to her as she is accustomed to a more flavourful type of fried rice.

After finishing most of the dishes, Papa was still not satisfied/full. He wanted to try out more seafood.

Papa ordered additional Butter Prawns. It came in a very big dish. But funny wor...how come Butter Prawns have oats/nestum sticking on it geh?

I thought Butter Prawns are supposed to comes with a lot of "hair" like the ones we had at Restaurant Yin Her.

We didn't query too much la. Maybe different shop have different style of cooking Butter Prawns.

Papa further ordered some Sotong Goreng Tepung(Fried Squid).

Yay...this one looks like a "Y".

The Squid looks great but taste very rubbery. We did not finish the fried squid at all.

When we went to the counter to pay and also informed the Cashier about the rubbery squid. She said normally if the squid is large sized, it would be rubbery when fried. It would need to be cooked in other style.

Aiya....why they didn't tell Papa that earlier. Wasted betul.

Everyone agrees that the Seafood were fresh there. The only downside is that we were not accustomed to the style of cooking. Maybe it's one of those things that would grows on you as you come again. Yes, Mamarazzi would love to go there again for the grilled fish.

There was a tussle when comes to paying the bill. Everyone wanted to pay. Based on the amount of seafood and the large portion that we have had, Mamarazzi thought the bill would at least comes up to RM250. However, she was pleasantly surprised that the bills was only around RM160 and it was inclusive of the drinks and prepacked Nasi Lemak.

Here is the address should you like to try Ikan Bakar Parameswara, Medan Ikan Bakar, Pangkalan Pernu, Umbai 75460 Melaka. This restaurant opens daily except on Monday.

3 Star Hotel With 0 Star Service

There will be two posts today. The comments for this post is purposely closed coz it's a ranting post. You may skip reading this if you wish. Next post will appear at noon today.

We were pretty much tired out after all the walking and all the eating. Mamarazzi suggested that we check into the hotel and get some rest since it was raining very hard. Can't do much of sight seeing anyway.

Hence, Papa drove up to the hotel. It was after 3pm. It was a 3 stars hotel. Papa and Mamarazzi had stayed there before and the rooms and service was okay. This round they booked the same hotel.

When we arrive at the main door, there was no doorman on duty although their website clearly show Doorman opening door for the guests.

At the Reception Counter, the lady's attitude was pretty lax. No welcome greetings and not much of smile.

We were finally given our room key. No bellboy help with the luggage. No problem at that moment as we didn't have much luggage also.
When we arrived at our room, we discovered the small lock at the room door was spoilt.  Well, never mind, we can always use the other lock.

When Mamarazzi bath me, she noticed that the bathroom wall and floor have dark coloured stains. Hmmm....looks like they didn't clean the wall and floor properly.

It took the water heater very long to heat up. I have to take a cold bath
I was practically shivering when I got out of the bathroom. Worse still is the air-conditioning of the room siau siau a bit. 30celcious also very cold.

That night Papa had to off the A/C to sleep coz it was too cold.

Mamarazzi is the type that is scared of cold. She was darn tired and wanted to sleep but can't coz the body was sticky from the day's adventure.

She told Papa let's ask for a change of room la since the Water Heater is not working.

Then Papa said no point as the water heater and A/c is centralised. Other rooms will be the same.

Some more maybe they never on the water heater yet coz from his experience some hotel switch off the water heater at certain time to save cost.

Then, she thought up an idea. Maybe just boil some hot water with the kettle that the hotel provided and "mandi kerbau" lah.

Mana tau when she plugged in the Kettle...it was not working.

Fuiyoh...apa lagi...smokes coming out from the top of her head la.

Then Papa asked her to use the room phone to call the House Keeping. But tarak number for House Keeping there. Only have number to the Reception and number to the Operator.

Mamarazzi dialed for the Reception first. Rang so long but nobody pick up the phone. Mamarazzi was very angry already. Papa asked what's wrong. Mamarazzi said all the employees "Mampus" already.

Then Papa tried to call. Also the same result. Called Reception nobody takes the call. Called Operator also the same. There was one attempt when Papa was holding the phone waiting for someone to answer, Papa fell asleep coz too tired. Snored a bit.

Papa also got fed up coz was trying for more than 20 minutes. If say Reception or Operator go to the washroom also won't be so long gua???.

Papa used the handphone to call the Hotel's mainline. Somebody answered the call and kena Papa perli whether anyone working on that day or not. The one who answered the call said maybe the phone in the room is spoilt but almost immediately the room phone rang. It was from the Hotel enquiring what's the problem. Papa explained to them.

The person on the line then told Papa that the electric socket at the Kettle place is spoilt. Then said Kettle had to be plugged into the socket next to the television.

WTF! the room is not in a tip top condition, why the heck give it out for guests??! Moreover, the period that we were there was not a peak period nor a weekend. There were plenty of empty rooms around. We are paying guests. It's not as if we stay there for free.

And on the day that we check out, we had our hands full with luggage and stuffs. There were several hotel staffs chit chatting at the restaurant's welcoming desk which is located 10 steps away from the Main Door. Nobody came and help open the door for us. Mamarazzi got so angry that she practically kicked the door open.

It is understandable IF the period that we stayed there is peak. The staffs maybe too busy to monitor the cleanliness of the room, to answer the phone immediately, to hold the door open for guess and to ensure the room in a tip top condition. However, it was not. Their attitude were pretty lax.

If this is a motel, hostel or even a lower stars hotel then it is understandable la. Definitely will not be returning to the hotel anymore.

Durian Cendol and Chill Out at San Shu Gong, Malacca

Mamarazzi had promised me "Ice Cream" when we were having lunch at Kedai Kopi Chung Wah

Hence after lunch we crossed the road and heads towards "San Shu Gong" coz Mamarazzi saw the big banner stating "DURIAN CENDOL" near the main entrance.

Mamarazzi ordered a Splashing Honey Lime Juice (RM3-90).

Thought it comes in a glass with ice but then it came in a bottle.

When Mamarazzi asked for a glass of ice for the Splashing Honey Lime Juice, she was given this miniature cup with 4 pieces of ice.

Well, at least I got my Ice Cream Durian Cendol(RM5-80).

Uiks...why only white ice geh?

Oooo....all the ingredient is at the bottom ya? Taste...hmmm...I don't quite like it.

Mamarazzi had a taste and in her personal opinion it was a tad too sweet. Confirmed Mamarazzi old already la. Can't eat too sweet.

Guess different people like it different way. Many loves this Cendol.

After having the Cendol, we walked around the shop. Quite a lot of interesting to see. Check out Hilda's post on this place.

Mamarazzi didn't buy much from here. Only bought some "Keropok"(Crackers/Chips) and some fried Bilis. I love the keropoks.

As we were coming out from the shop, it started to rain. Saw this monkey "hanging out" nearby.

For me, I love the rain.Love playing in the rain. Just too bad Mamarazzi won't let me do that.

Here is the address if you should be interested to visit this shop :-

Chicken Rice Balls at Kedai Kopi Chung Wah, Malacca

It was around 1.30pm that we were done with the Malacca Zoo. It was fun but it was rather tiring too.

Once we got into the car, I told everyone that I wanted to "oi oi".

Mamarazzi told me to "Oi oi" lah and that she will wake me up when we arrived at the "makan" shop.

They decided to have Chicken Rice. Mamarazzi had the Farmosa Chicken Rice and Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball before.  Hence, this round she decided to try out other shop pulak.

We had our lunch at Chop Chung Wah, Hainanese Chicken Rice.

We were lucky as we arrived and ordered one step early coz as we were having our lunch, Mamarazzi saw the Boss closed the grille of the shop. Chicken Rice finished.

I was rather grumpy at that time coz I was tired.

But then when Mamarazzi mentioned the word "Ice Cream", I "woke-up" almost immediately.

In fact, I had around 4 "Rice Balls" alone.

The rice balls came in a plate of 5.

The size of the rice balls seems to be a bit smaller than what we had at Hoe Kee many moons ago. But then I can't be certain as time had long lapsed.

These tasted pretty good. Both Mamarazzi and Auntie Florence loved the Chili Sauce that comes with the Rice and Chicken.

Speaking of Chicken, we ordered half a Chicken. Needless to say, it was pretty delicious. Meat were tender and juice. Well cooked with no reddish blood oozing out.

Total bills for half a Chicken, 6 plates of rice balls and drinks comes up to around RM30. Mamarazzi consider it to be affordable and worth the price since the food was good.

The shop is located at (the right corner after crossing Tan Kim Seng Bridge from Dutch Square and opposite of San Shu Gong Shop) Lorong Hang Jebat, Melaka, Malaysia

A Disappointment, A Bookalicious Treat and A Surprise.

Last week Mamarazzi saw Inspired Momx1 blogged about Popular Warehouse Sale happening at the Summit USJ from 18 Nov to 28 Nov 2011.

She thought of going there last Sunday coz we were going for the Subang Jaya Book Exchange Programme, so might as well drop by Summit.

However, we didn't go to the Summit coz Mamarazzi was horrified by all the cars queueing up from the main road to go into the Summit.

We finally went to the Popular Warehouse Sale on Monday afternoon. Not many people there. Half the space located for English books and the other half was for Chinese books.

Mamarazzi browse around and was disappointed by the selection on English books and kids books.

There were some English fictions that she was interested in but even after 70% to 80% discount, the price were still high for her budget.

She calculated that the prices for the books that she were interested were similar to books sold at Normal Price in BookXcess. Guess, she has been too pampered by BookXcess, Book Tree and the Big Bad Wolf Sale gua.

After browsing for more than half an hour, she only managed to buy these two books.

China Ghost was around RM12 while Golden Boy was around RM18 after 70% discount and 50% discount respectively.

Hearing Mamarazzi is going to the Summit, Nylusmilk told Mamarazzi about Bookalicious.

Actually Mamarazzi know about this shop long ago. Been there once. That time, Mamarazzi was not really impressed with the shop because the offer at that time was not that attractive.

Well, since this shop is just a few step away from the Popular Warehouse Sale venue, Mamarazzi decided to drop by and look see look see. She didn't plan to buy anything coz she was saving for the BBWS Aftermath sale happening this 24th to 28th of November 2011.

However, Mamarazzi end up coming out of the shop with TWO paper bags full of books!

Bookalicious is having sale too till 28th Novmber 2011. Check out their Facebook for the delicious promotion.

While Mamarazzi was busy book hunting, Papa and me were busy too. Unknown to her, we were busy getting a surprise for Mamarazzi.

As Mamarazzi came into OldTown Kopitiam, I presented her with this lovely bouquet of 12 roses and said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Mamarazzi was puzzled...huh? birthday? what birthday? Papa had taught me to say  "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!" but I silap cakap.

Aiyoyo....it had completely skipped Mamarazzi's mind that yesterday was Papa and Mamarazzi's wedding Anniversary. Terbalik Papa remembered but not Mamarazzi. Piak! Mamarazzi.

After presenting Mamarazzi with the roses, I started to dig what's in the bags.

Wah....so many things for me! But Mamarazzi said wait till go home baru can open.

Meantime, Papa ordered some more food and drinks for Mamarazzi.

Earlier I polished off whole bowl of Chicken Hor Fun all by myself.

Papa had some Roti Pratha

Ooo...nice nice...I can have "celup celup" with it.

Mamarazzi had this delicious bowl of Prawn Noodles.

After makan, we came home and I started to dig out the stuffs there.

Mamarazzi simply LOVE the paper bags. Very beautiful with a small card hanging at the handle. I bet it would be a nice bag to put Christmas present in to give to friends.
I found a box of "My First Learning Sets" which consist of 4 books and a CD in the bag. Surprisingly it's only RM14-90.

Mamarazzi also bought two boxes of Jigsaw Puzzle for me. The box is a carry-in type of box. Very cute.

There are 28 pieces in each box. Quality is quite good. It only cost Rm12-90 a box.

She also bought some flash cards for me at RM15-50

For herself, she picked up this book for only RM9-90.

Then she spotted this gem. She had been wishing for this book since the book came out but the price was too high at that time.

Mamarazzi saw that it's going for RM24-90 at Bookalicious but was rather disappointed to see the sticker says "Buy 2 Free 1".

The Cashier spotted Mamarazzi's dilemma and she told Mamarazzi that they are having a promotion currently. They are giving 35% discount for those books with the blue stickers from now till 28th November and customer is not obliged to buy 2 books. Customer can buy 1 book and still enjoy the discount.

Wah...Mamarazzi was so happy! That means after discount the book is only rm16 plus! What a bargain!

There was a young man who is attached to Bookalicious. Not sure whether it's staffs or one of the owners.

Maybe he saw Mamarazzi was looking for bargain books or that Mamarazzi was holding "The Thorn of The Lion City"; but what ever it was he approached Mamarazzi with this Adeline Yeh Mah's book. He suggested maybe Mamarazzi would like this book and it's RM9-90 only.

Apalagi! of course Mamarazzi like that book. Hmmm...very observant of the young man to know that Mamarazzi like books related to asian.

Another interesting book that Mamarazzi spotted and bought.

The young man approached Mamarazzi again and introduced Mamarazzi to a section full of books about China from Literature, fiction and biography.

Aiyo...Mamarazzi spotted "The Romance of 3 Kingdoms" in English priced at RM100. It's one of the books in her Wish List. She really itchy wanna buy but the see it's Vol 2. Hmm...means she'll have to go find Vol I. Lazy lah...so she didn't buy.

She managed to grab this Madame Chiang Kai Shek book for only RM19-90. She knows someone who have been drooling for this book long time already. Just nice as Christmas pressie for that someone.
When she went to the counter to pay for the purchases, she was pleasantly surprised that the young lady at the counter gave her 4 pieces of bookmarks and 4 pieces of pockets calenders.

Wah so generous. Tak mintak terus bagi and so sekaligus so many pulak. The young lady was very friendly.

Mamarazzi would certainly go there again if they are going to have more promotion like this which does not make it compulsory for customer to "Buy 2 Free 1" or "Buy 2 for 1". The reason is that sometimes it's hard for Mamarazzi to find 3 books with blue color stickers or 2 books with yellow stickers that she wanted to have.

Yes, it has been a wonderful day. Last but not least Happy Belated Anniversary to Papa. Makan makan ganti balik today ok ka?.
