I "Help" Mamarazzi to Make Pickled Mango

It had been ages since Mamarazzi made pickle Mangoes

Partly it's because these tiny mangoes  which the Malay call as Mempelam are hard to find in the city.

She found some when we went back to AH Mah's house during school holidays. She used 5 to make the Sambal Empelam while the rest were made into pickles.

First she peel off the skin. Some people don't peel the skin coz they like to have it with skin.

Cut them into half and take out the seeds. She was very happy as the seed was "young". The "old" ones are pretty bad coz the seeds would be too hard to cut into half

Soak the mangoes in warm salt water for about half an hour.

Oh ya....by the way, that's me sulking  ...

Don't wanna look at Mamarazzi coz she don't wanna lend me her camera to snap photos of the mangoes.

Finally she let me "help" her. Hold the mangoes while she snap photos.

 and arrange the mangoes.

Then kacau point to various ingredients when she snap photos. The pickle mangoes that she makes is not the usual with vinegar, sugar and cili.

Instead she add some asamboi and some tree barks/roots that the Chinese call "Kam Choh"(Direct translated as Golden weeds)

Put them in a glass jar.

Fill the jar with 1/3 full of sugar. Ya...not so healthy with all the sugar but what to do? If less sugar the pickle will be too sour.

Guess, eating this once in a long time should be okay gua....

Add a bit of vinegar to "melt" the sugar.

We managed to get 3 jars of pickled mangoes. Ate them after a week....Ahem ahem.....now left only on jar. Yummy yummy.....wondering when will Mamarazzi be able to find some more of this "mini" Mangoes.

The Viceroy, The Elders and The People

Once upon a time, there is an Emperor. He had a vast expansion of land.

One day the Emperor decided that he wish to expand his horizon.  Go travelling. Go to become a monk up the Himalayan Mountain. But what about his existing kingdom?

The Emperor had an idea, why not let the people self rule. But then, the trouble is the people have no experience. How? Then he had another idea, why not appoint his viceroy (J) to help the people to ensure everything in the Kingdom to operate smoothly.

The people in the Kingdom also elected a group of Village Elders to "communicate" with J and some did not speak the same language as J.

One day, the people in the Kingdom was shocked to received a notice from their Elders. It states that they had held a meeting with J and that J had decided to stop the people from using the community "well".

Apparently, it was discovered that the "well" had not received the "Certificate of Fitness" from the relevant authorities since the inception.

The people were puzzled as all their houses had received "Certificate of Fitness" when they moved in and surely whoever who built the "well" would have obtained "Certificate of Fitness" for the "well" too.

Okay, that is still not too bad. Let the expert come and check the "well". At least it's to the safety of the people.

There were notice of temporary closure of the "well" all over the place. The people took notice.

But then on the date of the temporary closure, the people were shocked at the drastic act taken by J and their people.

The "well" is not only "deactivated" but also hideously defaced with wood nailed upon its walls.

It seems a bit extreme aren't it? Cutting power to the mechanisme that pump the water from the well would have been good enough, right? Why did J and their people had to "Vandalise" the well hence making the view become ugly?

The people is unavoidably suspicious why did Viceroy J go to such extreme as to NAILING shut the well as pasting up a notice and deactivating the "Well" would have been more than ample to deter people from using the "well".

Aren't the money to purchase the wood and bails came from the taxes that the people paid? In which shop or whose shop did the Viceroy purchase the nails and the wood? How much does it cost?

The people were not given a proper accounting on the money spend each year, unlike other Kingdoms. In another Kingdom not far away, the ir people were given proper "Profit & Loss, and Balance Sheet"  annually but not in this Kingdom.

One of the people there contacted the two Elders in the earlier notice. One of them replied saying that they are not J. J is given the trust to take care of the properties in the Kingdom while the Elders' job is to ensure that J is does it.

However, the Elders does not have voice loud enough to counter J's decision as they are week and not many people joined the Elders Counsel.

It seems that the Elders are is powerless to goes against the tyranical  Viceroy J.

The said Elder member also inadvertently revealed that actually three of the 7 communities "well" already have "Certificate of Fitness". Only Viceroy J "omitted" to renew it.

The people is puzzled why then Viceroy J did not just admit the mistake and not hide behind crafty wordings.  The people is not stupid.

Another Elder also replied sayng that it's J's decision and not theirs. The people finally got fed-up and replied "It's time to change the Management".
As the situation about the "wells" continued, the whole Kingdom then declared that the Euro 2012 fever is not yet over. They will continue on playing ball. Hence the Viceroy, the Elders and the people continued playing Football on their own.

I wonder the ball now landed at whose court now.

Claypot Glass Noodles at Restaurant Khunthai, Petaling Garden, Petaling Jaya

Mamarazzi was on crazy mode again. This round say wanna eat Khuntai Steamfish pulak.

I don't wanna eat rice leh.

Can go other place to eat or not. Mamarazzi said not.

Ordered on GIANT mug of Lime with Asamboi Juice to be share with me.

When the waiter asked what would we like to order. I told him I want "noodle"

He recommended their house speciality "Claypot Glass Noodle".

Papa ordered a small pot for me .

Here it is. Hmmm...so dark geh.....Taste so-so only lah for us. Maybe coz there was too much dark sauce? However, the prawns given were very big and fresh.

Mamarazzi's had their "Thai Steam Fish". Taste very good. Service was pretty good too that day. The Waiter saw the "soup" nearly dried up coz there was charcoal under the plate and he offerred to top up the "soup" for us. The soup goes well with rice.

We also had Kerabu Sotong. Unfortunately the sotong was not that "bouncy" that evening.

Fish Cake. Thought order for me but Papa and Mamarazzi had forgotten that they put Chili in the Fish Cake. Mamarazzi had a bite and felt its too spicy for her. Papa finished off the rest and you can see him "raining" all over .

To cool off the spiciness, we had this terrific dessert.

Overall, Papa would go for their rice and some dishes as the food there is delicious but not really keen on the Claypot Glass Noodle.

Here is the address of the restaurant  No 6 Jalan 5/44, Petaling Garden, Off Jalan Gasing, 46000 Peatling Jaya, Selangor

Restaurant Vicchuda or Waneeda?

The other day Mamarazzi was thinking of having some spicy food. Tomyan and Kerabu Mangga cames to mind.

Hmmm....very long time have not been to Restaurant Vicchuda which is next to Sunway Giza.

UIKS!!!???

Why name changed to Restaurant Waneeda??? Everything looks the same even down to the staffs. Only the name  noted to have change.

Hmmm...wondering why... change of management?

Anyway, here is the Kerabu Mango that Mamarazzi likes. Taste yummy except for the peanuts which had a bit of oil smell. But overall edible.

Auntie Little Bird will kill for this Fried Sotong. Very bouncy and very yummy.

Mixed Vegetables. Nice but Mamarazzi likes the ones at Warong Katana better.

Seafood Tomyam without Cili Padi . Do I heard somebody laughing out there? It was Mamarazzi who requested them not to put Cili Padi. No worries. It;s still a bit spicy. Just nice for Mamarazzi.

Jumbo Juice. What can I say ....nice to have these while having spicy food.

Hey...can we eat now? Enough of snapping photos lah.

Uncle Cheng Special Beef Noodles at SS2, Petaling Jaya

Mamarazzi read Nikel Khor's post about Uncle Cheng's Special Beef noodle not long ago. From the post, the Beef Noodles looks wonderful.

Hence, she dragged Papa and me to go and try out.

Sleepy leh....so nice to sleep as it was a rainy day and I just have my McD Mc Flurry. I didn't wanna eat so Mamarazzi said share with her la the Beef noodle.

Papa had the Kon Low(dried) Lai Fun Beef Noodle. MMmm.... generous portion of meat and spare parts.

They do not have Yellow noodle coz the Boss said yellow noodle have alkaline. That's why Mamamarazzi ordered Bihun Soup Beef Noodle for herself and me.

Mamarazzi likes it very mych coz of the generous portion of beef. The beef was also tender and juicy. The soup was a bit salty but that is understandable as by the time we arrived, it was very near to closing time. Soup have been boiled for many hours

Noticed a unique sign. "Patience is not about how long one can wait, but how well one behaves while waiting".

Mamarazzi had forgotten to note down the address however found the address stated in Nikel's blog . Here is the address :

54, Jalan SS2/4A,
 47300 Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

"Famous Price" for "Famous" Stall

Once upon a time.....Papa noted that someone says that there is one tasty Roast Pork Rice located near a Buddhist Temple in Happy Garden, Old Klang Road.

One day...we were at that area and we decided to "Tapau"(take away) from that Chicken Rice stall. Mamarazzi order 3 packets of Chicken + Roast Pork Rice. Sure enough there were many customers having their lunch there.

Can you guess how much it cost? RM20.40!!!

For that price, Mamarazzi would  expect a lot more meat.

The taste was just so-so only. Not up to Mamarazzi's expectation.

A few days later, Mamarazzi was unsatisfied. Hence, after my class, we went to "tapau" Chicken Rice nearby our house.

The Chicken Rice stall is manned by this Cambodian couple.

Just a small stall on the corridoor of Restaurant Kamci near Jalan Utarid U5/3,Shah Alam.

This big packet of rice with Chicken Meat, Roast Pork and gizzard cost Mamarazzi RM5 only.

See the differences? Top RM6.80 with only Roast Chicken and Roast Pork while the bottom was RM5 with Roast Chicken, Roast Pork and Gizzard cost RM5.

Here are the price list of the latter stall.

Really don;t know la...guess maybe some place after become "famous" the price also can charge "famous price" although both also operating from a stall in a restaurant.

Naughty Papa and Mamarazzi left me again while at Ah Mah's place. They went to A & W  without me. Sneaked out while I was sleeping.

During that time, A & W was having these cute bear keychain promotion for each Beary Meal purchased.

After having so much of others burger, Mamarazzi felt good having A & W Mozza Burger. See how nicely they wrapped the burger.

Just need to pull out the top.

An it's ready to be eaten. No messy hands.

Papa's Coney Dog.

Mamarazzi said it's nice to have something different.

Anyway, Mamarazzi got me the Beary Toy Keychain. It's a keychain and also double up as a torchlight.
